Feral Druid New tier set is bad

  • (2) Set Bonus: Your spells and abilities have a chance to activate a Winning Streak! increasing the damage of your Ferocious Bite, Rip, and Primal Wrath by 1%, stacking up to 10 times. Ferocious Bite, Rip, and Primal Wrath have a 15% chance to remove Winning Streak!

  • (4) Set Bonus: When you consume Apex Predator’s Craving, become a Big Winner, dealing Physical damage to Apex Predator’s primary target and increasing the damage of your periodic effects by 4% for 6 seconds.

  • Anti-synergy- The 4p works against the 2p. We want to stack the 2p as much as possible but 4p forces us to use apex proc to try and break the streak this is not good design.

  • 4p Effect lacklustre- Although we don’t have the numbers on how much the extra physical damage will hit for. The 4% periodic damage for 6 seconds is an extremely weak effect both. First of all the wording doesn’t make it clear whether this only applies to the primary target in which it would be insanely bad or if it applies to all periodic effects on any target which would at least provide some aoe value. 4% is extremely weak for context sabertooth in dragonflight gave us 25% extra rip damage when using an apex proc or just biting which is much better effect than this.

  • Problem with apex- Making an entire tier set around apex isn’t a great idea since apex directly means not taking certain talents. Saberjaws doesn’t pair well with apex since saberjaws effect doesn’t work on apex bites, This also means playing druid of the claw which takes saberjaws in single target is now worse since using and apex proc on ravage will do less damage than without an apex proc.

Hopefully something will be done because this tier set is extremely underwhelming. Blizzard seem to have a theme with .1 patches and giving us extremely bad tier sets.

This is gonna be the first season where I play with 0/4 tier set bonus in pvp.

I like that tier set, not that I pay much attention to it but it does pair well in delves with the crit Brann curio.

A set bonus you “dont pay attention to” either way.

Also if you havent noticed we already are losing the old tier set and the new one isnt giving us more dps but a lot less, and the main issue is the damage we receieve from it is put in a niche, forcing you to tightly specialize into that same niche, making your tier set useless outside of it.

You are thinking the wrong way.

In pvp you will have the choice between set or no set. Keeping S1 is not an option in s2 just because of ilvl.

Basically you will have 3 options as always :
0set
2set
4set

0set will be the least valuable option for obvious reasons.

2set is the no brainier option.
Even if cut in half in pvp it’s still a damage upgrade vs 0set.

And 4set depends mostly on value vs stat.
Are there good stat for pvp on enough set piece?
Also the 4set trigger thx to apex and it’s already taken in today’s built. So we can assume it will be Worth taking if tunning follows.

BTW you didn’t test S2 set, you CANT know if it’s good or not.
Design wise, the set feels indeed lackluster.
The bleed amp part is really low. We don’t know the value of the direct damage but it must be quite high and that it will cleave otherwise it will be useless in m+ (even if the wording seems to say it’s ST)

Whats the obvious reasons Andy ? like non of the set pieces aside from Gloves give Versatility.
And the 10x 1% stacking is nerfed by HALF in pvp. Meaning i rather have PERMANENT extra 4~% versatility than an average of 2-3~ % bonus damage on bites.
Feral also needs 6% haste cap for the Incap and 2x dr Maim into clones.
So not only you will not get anything from the set but you will actually have to cap Haste anyway, making the set way worse because as things are in season 1 , you lose a ton of versatility for a decent set bonus and on top that it haste-caps you.
So the transition from current itemization and set bonus to the potential next season itemization and set bonus alone is gonna act like a DPS sink.

How is this a damage upgrade?
From having the current set to this one is a pure nerf.

I can easily detest that by the known principle sets are designed.
its always 1x minor(shoulder/gloves) piece giving versatility, which is also lower versatility than a normal PvP non-set piece by a minimum of 12%.
1 piece (usually helm) gives haste/crit. Making it useless for pvp.
Set bonus is always 50% effective in PvP.
Thats all the science you need.

I can sacrifice an eye, just like Odin, gain forbidden knowledge and I still wont understand why you defend this idiotic set bonus.

The bleed amp got buff to 8%
We can maybe have around 35-45% uptime on it
And the damage part is 250% ap ( so 1.14*brutal slash in terms of damage).
The damage part seems really underwhelming…

Amp is still meh.

We have 4 pieces with mastery
3 with haste
2 Crit and 1 versa so far.
