the 250k dps clip was 250k PEAK aoe dps on a HUGE pack, and also as buffed as possible afaik.
In the same video, there was a WW with 180k dps iirc
none the less:
The 4pc bonus got a “target cap” of 8 a few days ago, which in itself would have never made that occur again. And not speaking of the ridiculousness of target capping the only real aoe feral has every 2 - 3 mins, that might have been alright.
Then they additionally fixed the double and triple dipping, which is absolutely fine. (This should have been the initial fix!)
AND THEN they nerfed the base dmg of the 4pc by roughly 65% - which is ridiculous

Numbers could change before 9.2 hits live. No need to panic until patch notes are final, and even then they could be tuned after 9.2 hits live.
That feral was Psybearslat. The urn pull in ardenweald always has big aoe numbers. I was even in there with a boomkin last night who hit 100k with Frenzie.
The reason you shouldnt take that clip and use that is because its massively out of context.
Yes he hit 250k but that was with every buff under the sun. (PI kyrian/Fae buff from other players, potion and Hero buff and probably more.) They designed the dungeons to purposely pull around his CDs to see what kind of damage feral can do and its still a step down on the likes of mages/survival even with the whole team simping. In a real time scenario tanks will not be pulling as much as they was where they didnt have to worry about affixes and they certainly wont be waiting until berserk is off CD to pull each pack. Right now primal wrath does close to 0 aoe damage over the course of a dungeon thrash and swipe which are aoe abilities do less than auto attacking. The tier set gave ferals that bit of aoe they needed to finally do “alright” but even then they could only do aoe every 2 minutes for a short burst and then theyre back to doing tank damage on aoe.

Yeah exactly my words, we keep on getting pushed down.
Ferals crying when they are not 10 times better than anyone else. The fix was 100 % justified.
They did fix the “bug” which made them a ok to play and nerfed it with 65% it seem, i mean if they nerf them even more we would be useless in dungeons and raids for dmg lose, it just makes me sad.

I am curious.
Could you name 3 instances, when feral was FAR ahead of everyone else?
To make it easier on you…
Name two
And if you can’t do even that - you might just not have what it takes to beat EVEN a feral

The state feral is in right now is dire.
Single target is strong. Aoe is non existent. Tanks and healers can both out damage us on aoe pulls. Theres a lot of content in WoW and mythic + being one of the most enjoyable makes it seem a shame that you cant really play your class competitively in that part of the game.
No we are not moaning because we are not 10x better than every other class. We are moaning because our AoE is 10x below that of tanks

Yeah exactly! But also the buff would only work if you had a tank that could pull the entire dungeon, if you dont pull a lot of mobs the buff is just as useless as other attacks, tho now we are only single target, even guardian druids make more aoe than ferals. Hmm.

Gets a little frustrating in PvP watching a demon hunter jump in and deal 6k DPS for the entire game basically, deleting everybody, and meanwhile Kyrian feral gets a nerf because Moonkin uses it on Demon Hunters.
Like… hello? Has anybody considered that the problem might be demon hunters (and hunters too, actually, but different topic)?

This really is true.
Feral AoE is basically nothing more than an inconvenience for PvP’ers at this point. Shred deals basically no damage (it takes 120 energy to kill a a 7k HP totem) so we use Brutal Slash, but Brutal Slash is a derivative of Swipe so it doesn’t hit totems at all and doesn’t hit pets properly (-90% damage iirc), but it does hit pets after all so it breaks all the CC on them, so basically our AoE and cleave is trash but everybody gets to enjoy the fruits of our main single target damage breaking people out of CC constantly if we aren’t careful.
In other words, the AoE is so bad it doesn’t just make us trash at dealing AoE damage in PvE or cleave in PvP, but it takes it one step further and causes in convenience in the single target rotation as well… like, what? Why?
Buff Shred, buff AoE. Nerf bite?

“The damage reduction reflects the removal of those repeat benefits and bringing the damage in line with other set bonuses.”
Couldn’t this be interpreted as that they kept the “bug” in and instead reduced the damage multipliers to compensate for the unintentionally high damage the bug is causing?
according to ptr tests done by other ferals, they fixed the interaction AND reduced the multiplier.
The most plausible explanation is a dev snafu
They tried to fix it two different ways, and they just implemented both ways at once.
This CAN happen, yet Blizzard’s track record on “finding those things” on their own hasn’t been the best - especially in recent years

Could be the case. From what I’ve seen, the set needed some adjusting. However if they fixed the bug, a 65% is an unusually drastic reduction on top of it. So if they really did both I don’t think it was intentional.
I only play PvP because of this really.
I tried many specs but just cant play anything else but Feral and Feral in PvP is… miserable to say the least. First you are a melee dps which means getting into groups is already a hassle and second Feral aoe is probably the worst while ST is not that monster it was before… playstyle wise is very awkward and it feels I have to do tons of efforts just to get to the same dps as other specs who have a fluide easy rotation. I honestly believe they might want people to stop playing Feral because we have many specs to balance now…
well being relevant once every 2 min isn’t really fun to play tbh… if they now buffed the CDR, that would be fun, even at the cost of lower damage
It’s extremely confusing. What you’re saying doesn’t make that much sense either, because if it double dips or tripple dips from your stats, you can’t really call it x % dmg nerf, because to everybody it’s different damage nerf, because they have different stats.
Another tangent from me:
The double / triple dipping bug was known in the first days of ptr afaik, and was reported many times.
Nothing happened
And AS SOON as that psy vid got “viral” (to be clear, none of this is psy’s fault), Blizz seemed to switch into panic mode and “target capped” the 4pc bonus.
The same 4pc bonus that would have been a plaster on the open wound that is feral aoe (every TWO MINUTES) - especially in m+
And because that was not enough, they just HAD TO nerf it further - leaving me and other ferals to rot in pug queues, because 95% of the people just take what is meta atm, and feral not having useful aoe definitely doesn’t make it better.
To be clear:
I am not bitter at psy or other content creators that make those vids.
I am not bitter at the ppl only taking meta to +15 keys.
I AM however kinda bitter at the people deciding that implementing changes in such a way is the right thing to do.

I dont have to but they whine every time they are not super OP. So basically all the time. Other classes are fine being about the same level as others but feral have the need to be op.
that’s a really long way to say “I can’t”
And to help you understand:
the general consensus among feral during the entirety of SL is “ST is nice, AOE is meh”
And to at least your surprise, I guess, this is exactly the state of feral.

Yeah i guess being the lowest ranked DPS in mythic + is us wanting to be OP lmao
