Feral getting nerf why?

One topic that i think we really need to speak about is how Feral’s get treated in the game, finally Ferals got a bit of love and Blizzard made them worth and fun to play.
Then people start complaining when Feral already is not needed much, and now they nerf that one thing that made them a bit better.
All this makes me sad to be a Feral main, i feel Blizzard puts us down in the ground once more.
Let me hear what you guys think?

Not that i know the exact details about feral on this matter. I did saw the patchnotes. But we should take into consideration that the PTR state of feral is nerfed. Not live.

I can’t because that would involve me using lots of expletive. Ridiculous is the most polite word I in my mind.

They did explain why, though to be honest I have not played my Feral Druid for a while.

Druid

  • Class Sets
    • Feral
      • 4-piece: Damage done reduced by 65%.
        • Developers’ note: This adjustment is pretty heavy so we wanted to explain why this is necessary. Sickle of the Lion’s damage was set too high due to a bug that caused external power increases, such as Mastery and abilities that enhance Feral’s rotation, to double dip and even triple dip into those benefits. The damage reduction reflects the removal of those repeat benefits and bringing the damage in line with other set bonuses. We are watching feedback closely and will adjust, even post launch, if the need arises. Thank you for testing and providing feedback, we genuinely appreciate the support!

Yeah but the explanation is asinine. It says “a bug caused the damage to be too high. we fixed the bug and, to compensate, we reduced the damage of the ability”.

No idea how that makes sense, since the ability was never terribly OP, even with the bugs.

Can you explain how fixing a broken set bonus on a test realm is a ‘feral nerf’?

Thus stuff is tested so broken stuff doesn’t make it into retail.

All that’s happened in the OP is someone saw the words reduction and feral on the same page and lost the ability to reason.

Am i reading this wrong, or did they not fix the bug but just nerfed the ability-damage to get to a ‘reasonable’ amount with the bug still in place?

Aye, but it does also say they will be monitoring it and if required adjust it again… that adjustment could be up or down depending on the numbers.

From the sound of it, the class set was very overpowered by comparison to other class sets due to a bug.

It does read awfully to be honest.

I read it as… the bug was causing too much damage. The bug fix reduces the damage of class set by 65%. So it’s not nerfed, the fix of the bug is going to show a 65% reduction of damage on the ability.

Yeah, they can say a lot, talk is cheap. Not like the bugs were not reported weeks and weeks ago.

Not according to the sims and theorycrafting that I saw. Bug fixes are fine but I never saw any indication to justify the additional nerf on top of that.

Also, remember that Feral AoE starts from a fairly low baseline.

I dont think there is an additional nerf. I think what they are saying is that the bug fix will reduce the current damage of the ability by 65% as it can no longer double or triple dip.

there is an additional nerf.

double / triple dipping was fixed - which is alright

ON TOP OF THAT they nerfed the base dmg by 65% - which is NOT alright

In its current state, it might be beneficial to not go for set pieces at all. because the secondaries on them are laughable as well

You could be right, but it’s not how I read it…

When I read just those sentences… I see that the ability was able to double or triple dip. They can no longer do that and so we will notice a 65% reduction in damage from the ability.

I could be wrong, as I said earlier… it’s poorly worded.

I can’t help it but i read it as a nerf of 65% to reflect like the bug is not in place, while it still is. Otherwise they should not have used the word “reflect” i think

they fixed the interaction with buffs, that’s the fix

they also fixed the base damage of the 4pc bonus (700% → 320%), that’s the nerf

at least that is what I read, and what all 4 ferals worldwide agree on

But I also might be misunderstanding the gibberish in that dev note

Well, they for sure nerfed the ability. I am not sure what they did with the bug though.

It certainly is gibberish…
They could certainly be a lot clearer in it’s description.

Unfortunately, in this case at least I don’t think the gibberish is just a problem with description but indicative of the quality of the thought process behind the change.

What I heard about is a video with some feral pulling 250k+ dps in dos ardenweald with the set bonus. Even if the DPS goes up with the new tier, 250k aoe dps (which can be increased even more with optimisation) seems like a bit excessive.
