Feral Shadowlands Design Feedback

Thought I’d share some Feral input for Shadowlands. Especially regarding the promised unpruning. Mainly from a PvP perspective (competitive) but also PvE (mostly casual).

  • Barkskin needs to come back (baseline).
  • Frenzied Regen / Might of Ursoc need to come back (baseline).
  • Survival Instinct needs to go back to 1 charge with a long duration (baseline).
  • Force of Nature (Rake with Entangling Roots version) needs to come back (talent, replacing Savage Roar in tree).
  • Hibernate needs to be added to Predatory Swiftness (baseline).
  • Cyclone needs to be baseline, not a PvP talent.
  • Infected Wounds needs to be reverted to 50% and reverted to Shred instead of Rake as before (baseline).
  • Cenarion Ward needs to come back (talent, replace Wild Charge in tree).
  • All spells/abilities from Affinities need to be made baseline (not the increased efficiency with other specs though).
  • Stampeding Roar needs to remove roots and slows baseline again.
  • Powershifting needs to return baseline (either that or all casts, including CC, need to be castable in form, along with adding the old Ret Emancipation ability to Feral). It is too clunky to deal with.
  • Innervate needs to come back (baseline).
  • Typhoon, Mass Entanglement and Faerie Swarm needs to be returned (as mutually exclusive talents on a single talent row - replace Affinity row).
  • Ursol’s Vortex needs to come back (as a talent on same row as Mighty Bash).
  • Savage Roar needs to be part of snapshot calculation as before and be baselined with either MoP or WoD quality of life additions built-in.
  • GCD changes need to be undone (besides Powershifting, Wild Charge and Berserk/Incarnation comes to mind).
  • Snapshotting short duration buffs (trinkets, procs etc) needs to come back, maybe as a talent, maybe baseline (replace any of the Level 100 talents).
  • Leader of the Pack needs to be baselined.
  • Rake needs to be unpruned to not be dodgable/parryable when used from stealth (like Pounce used to not be).
  • Sabertooth needs to be reverted to the old <25% Rip renewal effect and baselined.

Additional changes that need to be made (imo):

  • Bloodtalons needs to be either removed completely or rebuilt (off-GCD, not tied to Predatory Swiftness).
  • Moonfire in Cat Form needs to be removed (replace with Wild Charge in tree).
  • Thorns needs to be removed (or reworked into the pre-Cata version).
  • Brutal Slash needs to do less single target damage than Shred. Forced AoE damage in the single target rotation is bad.
  • Almost all Feral damage should come from bleeds, not single target damage (and as a result, Feral burst should be quite bad).

Keep in mind that along with this other classes should also get unpruned, so it’s not like I want Feral to be “OP” or anything like that. I just want Feral to be fun again, like it used to be back in Cata, MoP and to some extent WoD.

These changes would fix Feral’s current issues with lack of lack of defensives, lack of mobility, excess of mechanical clunkiness and lack of control - all of which used to be the strengths / good parts of Feral design. These changes would fix all the aspects which are currently making Feral only frustrating to play, and would instead make Feral fun again.

I don’t think its that simple with shadowlands…
The whole class and spec systems might get a total make over

They specifically said they’re not making any major changes or big overhauls in Shadowlands.

I would gladly get into feral gameplay the tbc/wrath/cata(before the root nerf time) /legion type anytime. Feral is garbage atm.We die like chopped sushi in arena.Our damage is rock bottom also. On the other hand a naked firemage can do % 35 hp damage within 4.5 sec cast lol.

I dont know if it works or not. But everytime they try to overhaul, they make the classes worse. People had headaches after mop to get used to the new gameplay. If you ask me ; this game should be like overwatch.None of the classes should be behind in terms of damage/survival.Every class should have unique damage types and ways.

They also said a lot of abilities will probably come back.Lets hope ALL lost abilities that are lost in time comes back. That would be AWESOME.Our spell books are so empty xd İ miss cataclysm druid spellbook ALOT. Cataclysm was also the last expansion that ferals had both tank/dps utility :confused: good times.They split our spec into 2, to make us a respectable dps spec, and now we are worse than before lol.Legion brought a lot depth to our gameplay, but they removed all utilities at once, leaving us into a unfinished class back. I wonder if dev’s even watch old expansion gameplays in youtube.

Yeah, that’s why I proposed a solution that would only need unpruning, some removals and minor re-tuning to work. I.e. something that wouldn’t require a full overhaul. I really hope we’ll see them taking the opportunity to fix Feral through this unpruning! :slight_smile:

I dont know if I agree that Legion brought a lot of depth in gameplay, all I really felt was a clunkification (mainly through powershifting nerf and bloodtalons being mandatory for all PvP content) and the loss of almost all utility (Cyclone, Typhoon etc). I felt like all that happened in Legion was that the spec lost depth.
