Feral single target fix

I’m very surprised to see that most spells have been down tuned. Bite hitting for a whopping 25-30k, while a week-two weeks ago it still hit for 50k non crit. Bleeds ticked for about 7-8k, now both rip/rake do about 5-5.5k. Frenzy did 100k-110k, now it hits for 70k.

I did not see any posts about these nerfs, but it feels very frustrating and unrewarding to play single target.

In my opinion, there should be enough burst potential so that when you catch someone on a mistake, or do a proper cc setup you can create some real pressure, as it was last ssn.

Now, you catch a dps behind the pillar, your healer lands a cc on the enemy healer, you use tiger’s fury, frenzy and a bite. That sums up to ~100k dmg, combined with rake and rip ticking during the burst window that’s about 120k dmg. That’s such minor dmg compared to the hp pool, it makes trying to make some plays very unrewarding, and very forgiving for the other team.

The nerfs on bite/rip/rake were probably done to downsize the cleave dps, but then a new single target build should be put in place, so that those who choose this build over cleave can actually do pressure. Just makes sense to me…

I adjusted it a bit more to my liking since burst damage matters a lot more than longer dots with Veinripper.

I also feel like Tiger’s Tenacity is not worth the point at all, 3x1 Combo point is pretty much not worth the talk about outside of Berserk/Incarn at all, most of the time you are at full energy when going for a go in the first place, and thanks due to Moment of Clarity & 1 point in Tireless Energy energy itself fast CP generation shouldnt be the problem.

My FF hits for up to 170k with the build above on the training dummy and my Bite hits 55k noncrit. The bites will benefit even further when they change TfB to 8% of bleeds in the upcoming x.5 patch.

If you wanna keep playing Sudden Ambush then make sure each of the procs lands in your Rake unless youre in Incarnation already. I do feel like its still not worth the point considering TfB makes bites much more threatening.

Tiger’s Tenacity is in a iffy spot. You do get 3x 5 combo points Shred → Bites back to back in a Berserk/Incarn windows with it without relying on any crits but I feel like the 12% overall increase to TF is more relevant overall throughout the Game.

Im wondering for the x.5 patch if Rip and Tear is a better pick than Circle of Life and Death. Sure your FF hits its damage 1.5 second slower but its an additional whooping 8% to your bite. If that bite crits with on-use + 27% Tigers Fury and weapon enchant proc it should slap.

Just managed a 106k crit bite with Rip and Tear on the dummy without Berserk: Frenzy and “only” the 4% Taste for Blood increase. It is definitely good versus leather/cloth.

Adding the overall 20% Taste for Blood damage buff from the x5 patch, we have an 4% additional damage increase from each Berserk: Frenzy, Rip, Rip and Tear, Rake and Feral Frenzy and we are at a 132k bite instead. :thinking:

Iirc Dummy has neither armor and especially not any Versa though, so damage of course should be lower unless you chomp on a Mage. Still seems a lot better overall than Veinripper Tiger’s Tenacity thus far imo.

I tried experimenting with something in 2s, basically taking every single stacking buff and most i’ve ever done was 44k on some pve geared hunter (~290k hp never bothered to check armory). The only damage i’m missing is badge trinket, i usually run with battlemaster or proc.
But even with standard bleed build kinda feels awkward since frenzy is on 45s CD and badge on 1min meaning you either:

  • go every 45sec with TF+FF and use trinket every other go esentially waste trinket cd
  • wait for badge to line up and use your TF every 30sec and TF+FF+badge every 1min but what do you do with it?

I might play around with convoke and badge until i cast 78 useless heals while i’m at full health Pepega

Idk everything seems really awkward about ferals to me atm.

Usually you just wanna wait the 15s for badge, but this is also why most Ferals prefer proc rather than Badge since 15s wait time is a lot in arena.

Maybe if we see return of 1 Min Convoke with the x.5 patch we can play Badge reliantly again.

I do prefer Badge aswell though but I can tell its not that great in high rated arena due to not lining up perfectly.

I’d be happy with any spec, whether it be convoke or frenzy burst, as long as we can do some significant single target pressure when we do land cc. Imo last ssn felt great, even if adaptive swarm could be dispelled (which is another issue I have). The bleeds and frenzy created enough pressure to make going for cc/catching enemy on mistakes rewarding.

You wanna feel that when you do something at the right time, it matters. Now atm, it feels very unrewarding to try and make some plays/going for cross cc and doing piss dmg during the cc window.

Mindless M+ cleave is one of the most boring feral feel I have witnessed last few years.

ST needs more attention
