My plater bars show all my effects on every current target. It’s easy to see which ones don’t have particular bleeds or DoTs on them, just not always so easy to target (or mouseover) the correct one when mobs are moving or getting bounced around by knock ups, etc.
I do worry about the OP’s dependence on hekili, especially while objecting to using weakauras.
So you admit to needing plater + weak auras to play the game? which is my point, game is too bloated and messy. I can play without hekili fine but my DPS meters are always better if I use it, because the second as CD or Proc is ready you see it and do it and it can track instant changes in the situation. I’ve never needed an ADDON to play FFXIV at a high level, because everything in that game is clear.
I’m playing monk in Remix, i’m having to use weak aura to track many cooldowns and the combo mastery, hekili if used will tell me to use flying kick IN combat just to not use tiger palm twice in a row when everything else is on CD and trying to stack 3 blackout kicks…
This isn’t about not needing, though. It’s about FFXIV not (officially) allowing addons. I’m aware that people do use them.
I use addons to display information that’s available through the default UI in a way that I find more intuitive and easier to keep track of.
The difference between weakauras, plater, etc and hekili is that the former display information that I decide what to do with, hekili tells you what to press next.
Weark auras basically tells you what to press n ext by giving the information in a vastly easier to read format, and i don’t agree you can monitor a 10x10 pixel square in a cluster of 50 squares int he top right corner or top left corner during a fight with all your buffs and debuffs, this is literally impossible to do hence why 99.9% of people have addons in wow. monk spinning kick 18% per enemy hit with tiget or 300% dmg prc dont show.
You claim to not use weakauras and yet you think you know how it works. Interesting. (At least I tried hekili before deciding it was rubbish.)
You do know you can change the layout of the UI with Blizzard’s default interface now? It still isn’t ideal and this is why so many people use weakauras to display specific buffs and debuffs separately from the default list, but it is possible.
You will deal more dps with hekili as its rotation is perfectly timed as opposed to trying to use a human brain for flawless execution. computers always wins. make me a video of you doing your rotation on your own and then with hekili and show me the dps.
I am having a TON of fun playing Feral, but that’s only because I ignore any procs that aren’t free Regrowths, or free Ferocious Bites
I’d love to see a version, where you didn’t have to feel like you are playing a class, that keeps pulling you away from “what is happening in front of you”, because you have to keep an eye out for procs.
The spec isn’t by any means impossible to learn. But it takes quite a bit of practice…
Have you noticed, almost every on screen UI proc effect has been removed from the game? I’m 100% sure int he past all classes used to have many more of these ui overlay procs for multiple abilities, now there’s hardly any and not even one for the important FB Free proc? game is 100% designed and reliant on addons and weak auras.
