Ferocity Pets are supposed to be the ‘Glass Cannon’, High DMG, Low Survivability type of pet, but Leech is so overpowered that they ‘Tank’ better than the Tenacity Pets,
It seems like the Survival of The Fittest needs a MUCH greater buff, or Leech, a nerf.
The whole point of the pet tree family is to give pets a niche, what point are Tenacity pets if people don’t use them for Tanking. If any contrarians want to stand up in the comments, the Clefthoof is Ferocity with the tenacity bonuses slapped on over the top.
I thought this would have gotten fixed in SL at somepoint.
Ferocity as always been a go to, in Classic because of their raw strength, in Retail because they provide both Hero and Leech.
The other 2 specs should give something like a raid utility, just the same, to bring them in line, such as a buff like attack power, battle ress, or a raidwide defensive. (This latter one in particular would be fitting for Tenacity. Something like a 20% dmg reduction works wonders, even as a dmg redirect to the pet.)
Pretty sure cunning pets have had their niches in PvP.
Also, if a group member already has bloodlust then a lot of hunters pick Tenacity pets over Ferocity, especially for higher mythics. This is because of the defensive CDs that tenacity pets come with.
Too bad, because say in Classic, bears make decent pets with their Swipe, as well as Thunderstomp, so they can “tank” in an AoE. But it’s a niche really.
it shouldn’t be like that though, it’s horrible game design to have the Tank pet class be worse at tanking than the Ferocity one.
Cunning Pets have at least the PVP niche.
I’m confident there’s some secret Ferocity Pet freemasons party going on at Blizzard.
They should just have all the pet abilities under (1) talent tree.
I would be dissapointed if with Dragonflight, they didnt take a note about the Wrath-style pet trees.
At the moment,
if everyone is just using Ferocity pets, might aswell make every pet able to use Leech.
