Few questions about arena teams and server populations

Hi peoples, I need to clarify some things if I want to jump into classic again. Last time I played was around BLW farming stage in vanilla and I skipped whole tbc and just played arenas on retail past year or two.

I want to play arenas in wrath and I am wondering what’s my quickest way of how to start first wrath arena season comfortably.

I have 4 aliance 60s on Golemagg, but stats on the population are pretty dire. All pvp servers look like pve monofaction servers according to ironforge.pro and I have no idea how arena system works in classic:

Are arena teams and everything for rated arenas, server centered or region wide? Meaning can I play on Golemagg with almost no alliance arena teams, but join arena teams from Firemaw for example?

… or should I re-roll on Firemaw for exactly this reason?

Or should I re-roll on a semi balanced PvE server like Mirage Raceway? The question then is if PvE servers have arena scene as well?

What would be your strategy if you just wanted to primarly focus on arenas going into wotlk?

yo so if you wanna play with someone in 2s he has to be on your server so you can’t join an arena team from another server but arena queues are cross servers so you will face people from other servers. now for the “should i reroll on a balanced or non balanced more populated server” is kinda up to you, firemaw and gehennas are monofaction so no wpvp but they are overpopulated easier to find pve grps/ arena mates. Imo i would recommand playing on a populated server cause you kinda need pve for pvp it kinda help. ( PS people gonna say bla bla bla queues, there will be queue at the beggining but 1 week later it’s gonna stop)

According to a blue post earlier, arena teams are getting removed in Wotlk Classic and replaced with personal rating.

  1. You can’t invite people from other servers so you will be able team up for arenas only with your server mates
  2. A server being mono-faction has no effect on your arenas or battlegrounds
  3. The bigger the population of your faction on a server is (in absolute numbers), the more people to team up with you can choose from
  4. The bigger your server is, the more GDKPs are organised. If you focus on arena, more GDKPs mean easier access to PvE gear (most notably trinkets) which is absolutely crucial in Wotlk arenas.

Which brings me to final advice:
Firemaw as Alliance, Gehennas as Horde

Thanks both for these awesome answers, that answered fully everything I needed to know. Re-rolling on Firemaw it is then:)!
