ffxGlow, disable full screen glow permanently

Since the patch I’ve been unable to permanently disable the full screen glow. I can temporarily disable it in-game with /console ffxGlow 0, but it seems that the game doesn’t respect the Config.wtf setting anymore:

SET ffxGlow "0"

Even when I have that in my Config.wtf, I get full screen glow still comes back :frowning:

I have exactly the same issue, as it seems technical support won;t help, just wish them to know it is also an issue for someone else.

For me? This is a deal breaker. I absolutely despise Bloom Effects, I never have them on, and do not wish them on. You have allowed us to turn it off for 10 years or so now, Blizzard, why the sudden change?

Just put it back in, or will lose me as a sub. Been on the fence for this expansion, and this would push me over, with all honesty, as asinine as it sounds.

The command
/console set ffxGlow 0
works fine.
Make sure when you type it, LOGOUT, not just alt+F4, then close the game and start it again.
If this do not work again, try to run the game as administrator.

I re-tested this now when I noticed the slight difference in command above (additional set), but unfortunately this does not work.

I also tried running the game as administrator and using the actual Wow.exe (bypassing the launcher). The glow comes back every single time. I never use Alt-F4 to exit the game.

Thus far I’ve found two workarounds:

  1. Macro the command to an ability you use often enough, but maybe not all the time. I added this to my mount macro.
  2. Use an addon called GlowOFF (curseforge)

This problem (the game not respecting Config.wtf value) came with the pre-patch and should be looked into. That someone has created an addon to fix this speaks volumes about the issue.

Also google “wow disable ffxglow” (last 1 month) and you see I’m not the only one with the problem.

Below is a snippet of my Config.wtf. As you can see the game correctly registers the setting, but it doesn’t apply it in-game.
