Final Blood elf and Void elf Customisations

Also hoping that these could be added in

Void elves
Lacking improvements to the void side of things. While high elf options are cool, some upgrades to void ones would make the theme more appealing to players. Entropic embrace could use some customisable effects too.

  1. void taint skin effects - these have degrees of purple on the skin, so from just hands and and feet, and then growing - obviously it can work on all skin shades, but it’s most pronounced on the paler skin shades. Your example would be the second to last highest setting. Highest setting might add a purple fire like glow to the hands.

  2. Tattoos. Your design is quite cool, so blizzard would provide a few variations

  3. Tattoo colour - colours would be 3 shades of purple, 2 x shades of blue, 1 x white/silver, 1 x forest green, 1 x pink, 1 x darker gold (like the race crest)

  4. Void corruptions: like in the picture above. Second pair of eyes, void eye, void spikes, also void tentacles (one option on back, one on arm)

  5. New eye types (placed in the eye colour category) - like in the picture above, 3 types of void eyes, black eye colour and also normal non-glowy eyes

  6. Entropic form customisation: a variety of options for your entropic embrace, including a light version which could alternatively be a glyph for those who role play as high elves.

  7. Some additional fuller beard options.

  8. Void corruptions - like in the picture above

  9. Jewellery options - a jewellery bar - can add a necklace, forehead gem and head band of varying designs (purple and blue gem colour, only gold option

Blood elves:

  1. Tattoos : like that beautiful gold one in the blood elf thread, - various styles including that seen on Rommath.
  2. Tattoo colours: 3 x green options, 2 x red options, 2 x gold (brighter golds), 1 x fiery orange, 1 x brown, 1 x black , 1 x blue option [compettive fans, it’s not about who gets more or less, it’s about what fits the racial colours)
  3. Scars: scar options, like those seen on Lor’themar
  4. Eye colours: Red eye colour, non-glowy eye colour options
  5. Open up undead faces from DK class available to other classes - so you can actually role play a dark fallen (DKs keep the smoky frost eyes for themselves)
  6. Open up Illidari customisation to the warlock class
  7. More rough beard options, fuller beards, less pristine - this is to represent farstrider types or even roleplay a recovering wretched,
  8. Magical effects: 3 glowing balls like Kael’thas has - can be fire colour, blood red colour, fel colour, arcane frost blue colour

Images

  1. Observe the 4 additional eye types that can reflect the void
  2. Observe the corruption effects like an extra void eye or pair of eyes, spikes and tentacles can be added
  3. Observe the partial purple skin tone options.

2 main things to observe in this picture a) the partial void skin. May I suggest a slider where it’s just the tips of hands and fit, then a bit more to finally as much as it is in this picture
Tattoo style - this example is cool, there could be several options basically end up looking like Alleria’s too.

Examples of additional void hair options. Starcursed hair.

Blood elf tattoos, beards and scars

This example shows what tattoos, scars, more rugged hair style and fuller beards can look on a blood elf. Lor’theamr has scars, Rommath has tattoos too.

Fan mock up did an excellent job of transferring the night elf beards onto the blood elf

Every race should have scars tbh, and good looking ones (the orc ones look like trash).

Dunno why you’d want this, but I’m pro-options.

Maybe not Illidari/DH options, but something similar, sure.

More beards for everyone (including forsaken). Beards is love, beards is life.

Well glowy eyes are for the magically enhanced. Notice how Sylvanas’ high elf model doesn’t have glowy eyes. Glowy eyes are or were meant to be special and a mark of magic.

Night elves first had them in warcraft because they had this incredible arcane power in them from their Well of Eternity origin and connection, Silver white like arcane magic is, also the colour of the moon and stars.

It was then added to forsaken to give a glow in the dark creepy affect
blood elves and draenei were introduced witht hem too - though blood elves should have had normal eye options then the lore gave them green because of theh fel magic they absorbed, so we understood the glow.
Draenei it was because of their ancient and powerful magical mastery - likely the ataml crystals.
Worgen have both, I think it fits them, the curse of the worgen is magical, so it makes sense it’s there, however normal eyes too.

While all Thalassians are connected to the sunwell, not all use arcane or light magic or fel magic, so it stands to reason that normal eyed options should be available to them, both on the high/void elf and blood elf side.

The reasoning for opening up to the warlock class only is to represent the fel caster side of the Illidari that isn’t reflected in the demon hunter class. In the lore, Illidari demon hunters are both melee experts and ranged magical experts too, but blizzard idnd’t want to give a range spec because it was too similar to the warlock class in theme and felt 2 specs was enough for the Dh.

By opening up the Illidair customisations to warlocks and having illidari warlocks actually default with green fire, it’s kinda like saying demon hunters have range, but it’s int eh warlock class.

You blood elf can be normal warlock or an Illidari demon hunter fel caster (ie warlock for all intents and purposes) if this makes sense.

Hear, hear !!

So in a way, a demon hunter-ish caster, rather than a physical one? Sounds cool.

Fair enough.

Like I said, I’m generally in favor of most customisation options as long as they make somewhat sense (as in, not a third arm growing out of someones back… unless they’re an undead.)

Agreed, I don’t think it would be hard to give tattoos and scars to blood elves now right?

yeh, that’s the idea, in lore it’s a demon hutner caster, but as it’s quite close to the warlock class, you just use the warlock for it… on blood elves this shows up as being able to use Illidari cusotmisations on both DH class and warlocks class, using DH customisations will trigger a DH start.

On night elves it can show up as a warlock class having the DH cusotmisations and the DH starting area too, rather than the night elf one. Showing you that you’re an Illidari… Illidan’s line in the starting quest can be modified if you;re playing a caster demon hunte r(i.e. picked warlock class), it’s just a matter of programming in warlock spells instead of DH ones ( it would be cool if they used a few different names for key abilities… presumably the Illidari would have default greeen fire, but can glyph to normal fire and normal warlock spell name.

Essentially the Illidari version of the spell is kinda like a glyph that is in stead teh defaul tif you’re using the Illidari model or on a night elf warlock demon hunter/demon hunter caster. All the spells that are different can be glyphed to normal lock spell names.

It’s the Destruction spec that is show cased and some basic lock kspells using fel green magic, then demonology is the second spec (where the melee fighter gets introduced to vengeance) and the quest text/ voice over is just different to explain how the Illidari view using demons…which is totally different to locks.

normal warlocks almost worship the things using them for power and control, whiles demon hunters are using them against them to ultimately destroy the legion. “Bind these to your will and use their power to destroy their kind” -

The sotry sequence is exactly the same, you are getting the sargerite keystone, it’s just you are called ademon hunter caster or demon hunter warlock, or demon hunter warcaster (whatever name) and the voice over for abilities is appropriately modified.

No need to do a new quest or anything, jsut voice over and text alterations where appropriate and you’re done.

Nope, and I’m kinda surprised that they don’t already (same with humans).

Well, the old lore for Zandalari Demoniacs were very close to what you want. They imbued themselves with the soul of a demon to power their spells. So I don’t see why it shouldn’t work.

More purple tattoos and other things associated with the Blood Elves’ mastery of Arcane Magic.

We’ve got 1 set of purple eyes.
Maybe tattoos and purple jewelry would be something to aim for.

I prefer the golden ambience though, it’s prettier and more unique.

Isn’t the whole pint of the blood elves is the special way they get solar and fire arcane? rather than the silvers and purples traditionally associated with night elves?

Is purple jewellery that necessary? But then more options are good, you do get lots of purple with the nightborne.

I’d be up for changing the colours of the gems though. Green, blue, red, gold and silver - would give it a more personalised and racial colour fit for blood elves… while they could add purple, I’d think it’s you wanting. Purple, blue and silver on nightborne - void elves probably purple, gold, blue and silver. Arcane is tradtionally silver or purple, but a specialised form is golden through fire as Thalassians show, having purple doesn’t connect you more to the arcane, because blood elf lore shows golden can come from arcane too, even if it is natural to “the Light”

Night elves silver, purple, blue and gold , possibly nature green.

Or just make them all the same, everyone has access to all the colours
red, gold, blue, silver, purple, etc - the thing is they are racial customisations, so it’s okay for the races to have some unique colours in character customisation, however in game, you can get any colour you want on certain pieces.

I think this is how it should go. If you want red on your NElf/VElf or Nightborne - go look for the drops, if you want purple on you void elf - go look for the drop, want green on your Nightborne and void elf? go look for the drop

I’m fine with this.

Purple is still a strong colour amongst Quel’Thalas, from their clothing to the arcane.

Plus, you’ve spoken alot about “fel” and “gold” more things for the Warlocks, Paladins and Hunters, yet the Mage class is such a staple to the Blood Elves, they need everything that is associated with that class.
Look at the Sunreaver Summoners:
https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Sunreaver_Summoner

Look at the Sunfury Astromancers:
https://wowpedia.fandom.com/wiki/Sunfury_Astromancer

Purple tattoos are available to Blood Elf Demon Hunters, so they should be given to Blood Elf Mages to indicate the Elves’ mastery over the Arcane.

Indeed, I don’t think “Warlock” based features are that big for the Blood Elves. The class itself is very niche and most Blood Elves are Mages > Warlocks.

Warlock stuff is probably better for Void Elves, whilst the Mage stuff is better for Blood Elves.

Then perhaps it’s not hte colour that should change, but the perception that gold is more associated with the warlocks than it is with the mages don’t you think?

Still I’m okay with more colour options being available - I don’t think lack of purple in anyway diminishes an already very strong arcane legacy with the blood elves. WE know they are strong arcane wise, but their racial colours and city are golds and reds and whites - not purple.

The Sunwell is golden - its the well of Eternity that’s purple and silver
Their skin colour is golden, it’s the night elves that are purple due to their arcane heritage.

However just because they are are pale skinned doesn’t mean humans and blood elves aren’t very good at magic… it’s okay not to have purple as colour theme in you even though it is indicative of the arcane.

In night elven kind, kaldorei and Shal’dorei it just shows their arcane heritage and origin - why blood elves should covet more of it, is beyond me as we all know blood elves come from night elves and use golden arcane magic Sunwell.

It’s already explained. where you go that golden was more associated with warlocks is beyond me, furthermore I thought green was more fel that was Illidari/demon hunter based from Illidan’s teaching, not warlock based, the warlock class only has one Fel green spell if i recall, most are shadow/void or fire - their demons wield most of the fel, which is why their bodies aren’t as corrupted as Illidari.

But you’re the expert. Don’t tell me you are jealous of the night elves, nightborne, void elves and draenei being purple? You have no reason to be. I like how the different elf races have subtler differences. lots of similarities but even in the similarities they have differences and it’s noticeable, sometimes as visible as one using purple and the other using golden for the same thing.

It’s cool. I don’t have a problem with it. I’m sorry if you do. But hey, I don’t mind blood elves getting purple jewels, I don’t think it’s necessary. Red and green for sure, gold and silver higher priority than blue or purple.

If you ask me, you are coming off a little insecure.

It’s not my fault you don’t know the full Sin’dorei lore. :woman_shrugging:

We’ve seen Blood Elves use Arcane Magic (silver and purple) many times, such as Aethas Sunreaver on the Isle of Thunder, the Sunreavers atop Dalaran.

To me, your just a little obsessed over blood elf warlocks.
They’re not that big of a thing mate…deal with it.

It was meant to relate the “gold” to the Paladins.

Whites / Silver - exactly the colour of the arcane.

But also, purple was a strong colour used by the Sunfury. So actually, purple could indicate the returned Sunfury Mages.

Yes we know on the class standard pallette, teh colouring of arcane is usually silver and/or purple. It is the original colour of the arcane.

however throgh the blood elve we know the arcane can also be golden. The sunwell is golden… you don’t have to be so insecure about blood elf arcnae mastery being shown when it is there in abundance. you don’t need to add purple or change the colour to purple to prove it’s the arcane.

You are coming off as insecure.

It’s okay for gold to also be related to the paladins and the arcane amongst the blood elves - it makes it more unique for them.

And I’ve said as much, but the fact also remains, that the blood elves arcane can also come off golden - look at the sunwell, and their hair colour and skin - whie the light could be responsible for that, ti is clear the arcane is also golden amongst this race.

nothing worng with that, the blood elves show it doesn’t always have to silver, maybe it’s the type of arcane access/magic they have.

YEs arcnae is naturally silver and purple blood elves are good enough that they made theirs come off golden… just because it’s gold doesn’t mean it isn’t arcane when we know this about them. You don’t have to now flood the blood elves with purple and silver to prove they are arcane, they already have enough proof.

Gold has never been associated with the Arcane. Otherwise, we’d have seen Lightforged Draenei use golden arcane spells over the purple spells that they actually use.

Why put that for Blood Elves is beyond me…

I mean, the Arcane creatures around Quel’Thalas vary between Purple, Blue and Silver.

No we don’t know the arcane can be golden, because it’s never been shown to be golden. The Holy Light is golden. Not the arcane.

The golden light wielded by Liadrin and her Knights are the holy light powers.

Your coming off as not really knowing a whole lot about the arcane and blood elf lore.

Golden is not the colours of the arcane.

If you can’t get that through your head, then that’s not my problem.

Again, the Lightforged Draenei completely go against your points.
Thank you Light-obsessed Eredar.

ANSWER THE QUESTIONS:

  • Why is the Sunwell golden?

  • Why are most of the trees in Eversong woods golden when it’s the arcane that has changed and controlled most things there?

  • Tell me, why can’t the magical colour be changed to something else they prefer?

  1. Would it be impossible for them to “dye” the colour of arcane to gold? or that fire gold is a unique form of the arcane?

  2. What is the evidence? The Sunwell is golden, most of the stuff they have is golden. Purple and silver , the night elven colours actually seem to be far less regarded and preferred.

  3. Why is it gold, and red, (and later green) that are the staples?

Why, why why do they need to have purple when these very arcane orientated elves choose quite evidently to be golden based? Whether that’s the natural colour of arcane or not ???

ANSWER THE QUESTION.
Why does having lots of gold somehow make them less arcane in your head?.. or you feel they need to have purple to show they are arcane even though silver and purple are the natural colours of the arcane?

Why???

The colour of the Sunwell has never influenced the colours of their arcane spells before.

Was the Sunwell blue before Arthas? Hence why High Elves were most efficient in frost and arcane magic? Exactly.

Because it timelocked into an eternal spring.

It’s why the night elf forests are largely all green because nature has taken it’s course. Quel’Thalas - nature hasn’t taken it’s course.

Their armor colours doesn’t change the fact that they still use silver and purple arcane spells and have done so recently.

Irrelevant.

I’ve shown you times when the Blood Elves have wore purple armor and used purple spells.

Because everything you have said is headcanon. It doesn’t exist.

Gold is not Arcane.

Blizzard have never shown it.

That is not an answer to the question. Answer the question.

Wrong answer. And night elf forests have many different colour leaves, lots of purples, blues, as well as greens.

Just because you state a fact, doesn’t mean it answers the question asked. Answer the question.

Blood elves aren’t limited to gold, red or green, it shouldnt surprise you they wear blue, purple, orange, black, white, pink and many shades out there, showing examples of them wearing other colours shows you they can, it doesn’t show you they have to.

Is that your go to when you can’t answer a simple question? I’m trying to help you here, because I feel you are missing something important here, and you’re insecure over a thing you don’t have to be.

Maybe blood elves just love the colour gold and red. Just because the arcane’s natural colour is silver and purple, blue too, doesn’t mean it has to be a major blood elf colour to show blood elves are great at the arcane or arcane minded. They can give them purple gems, sure, but you don’t need them as a racial thing, nor to show that the race is arcane loving or prolific. WE already know this about blood elves, we don’t need purple/silver/blue/pink colour to prove it.

I’m not the one missing anything important.

I’m just simply stating that we’ve got purple eyes for Blood Elves and purple tattoos for Blood Elf Demon Hunters.
Lets complete it with purple-like jewelry and put those tattoos for Blood Elf Mages.

You have an issue with this - I just don’t understand why. Your waffles aren’t going to make me change my mind.
Hell, if you love blood elf warlocks (your whole lot of fel stuff) so much, then main one. Your just playing something that is very niche and uncommon.

The best way to explore good customisation for blood elves is to look to the lore, the areas that the blood elves are good at and then see if you can add some cool stuff that reflects them.

For blood elves in addition to all the above in the OP we have:

  1. The Farstrider fantasy
  2. The blood crystals
  3. The fell crystals
  4. The Sunwell
  5. Spell breakers
  6. Animagus magic

Let us break each of these down

Animagus stuff are blood golems - best thing for these is to have pets and toys blood elves alone can access and show them as part of the Sin’dorei army, replacing the high elf constructs that malfunctioned in the original TBC zone

  1. Spellbreakers really is a class, it’s not common to all blood elves, so it’s something that should come either as a class skin or identity or an actual class or even specialisation

  2. The Sunwell - should find a way to reflect this on the blood elves… perhaps a magical effect like an aura after arcane torrent racial is used that can be customised to be golden, silver, , purple, red or green

Also maybe a magical effect like 3 b

  1. Fel crystals - these have bee used before, some still use them, you can reflect this in a unique type of jewellery with a magical effect, in addition, the green colour gem can be a reflection of this, as well as green eyes

  2. Blood crystals- can add a floating blood crystal, red gems on jewellery to signify this and/or a magical effect that makes it clear it’s a blood crystal

Something like this is ideal for an expansion that expands racial abilities - where you can unlock a path on the sunwell arcane side, the sunwell divine side and blood and fel crystals that serve as extra racial abilities

Another alternative is if every race has a set of racial spells that will substitute one or two abilities on the standard class (e.g. if you pick a blood elf hunter, your default will actually will swap certain abilities to a racial version - (you can glyph the default class version back on), here you can use the Sunwell magic, the blood crystals and fel crystals as some of those abilities - - each class of blood elves will have 1 or 2 abilities replaced by a racial themed one, however
a. players can glyph the class default back in
b. Players can actually change more class spells to racial versions from a bank of spells even if it isn’t default on your class. it works like a glyph, but instead you have to see a blood elf trainer to make the changes. [Trainers now have uses again and gives you a reason to go back to your capital.

  1. Farstrider : Well I would say, tattoos, scars and fuller beard options are actually a combination of options that can define a look for a Farstrider. The rangers don’t have much lore to them, but we see Alleria with tattoos, so it can be a thing on both blood elves and high elves. Just that the tattoo pattern, style, fidelity and colours will vary, and they will all mean something some extra content on Thalassian rangers can explain.

Lorewise - they’re gone. Replaced by Arcane and Blood Crystals.

Fel just isn’t a big thing in Blood Elf society. It’s the Arcane.

Lorthemar even tells Thalyssra that he had basically been blinded by Kael’thas and should he have sided with him, Silvermoon would have been engulfed by fel magic.

Extra little things like the Warlock tailoring shop forced into closure by the Silvermoon authorities further implies the distance between blood elves and fel.

I’m thinking more that some blood elves would have fel crystals still anyway to draw forom, especially the walrocks ones, but not limited to them.

Do blood elves even thinking of fel as taboo? I thought that was a high elf thing, and the Illidari’s help would also iterate this.

Under the Legion yes, I don’t think that would have been it’s fate under Illidan’s leadership, I think as fel users themselves they also know I doesn’t have to consume everything if you don’t want it to? But I am playing devil’s advocate here.
