I’m now going to break a promise to myself that I’d never provide feedback or make requests here again, because recent developments make me think you might be listening, so here goes…
Firstly, please merge the US and EU forums. EU has gone ignored for far too long and I don’t care about your technical limitations - it needs to happen.
The following are things that I feel should be added to the game. I understand that this probably can’t happen until the next expansion but guilds are the backbone of the game, and they have not received any content since Cataclysm! This is unacceptable. Please consider adding the following:
Guild Halls - Ion keeps babbling on about his philosophy about who “owns” the guild hall - just do it! The GM owns it. Solved. We get to build them and fully customise them. Hang those boss kill heads on the walls. Have feasts around large medieval style tables which everyone contribute to and gain weekly buffs from. Guild vs Guild invasions of each others halls (both PvE and PvP).
Guild Weekly Quests - Self descriptive. Everyone can contribute to them on a weekly basis for good rewards. Let’s social members feel involved. Perhaps the rewards are buffs for next weeks raid? Doesn’t matter as long as the reward is good.
Guild Ships - Build them, recruit a crew (which can be replaced by actual players if wanted), sail them to a zone. During the week, if docked at a zone then everybody in the guild will gain buffs and other rewards for adventuring in that zone for the week. Pirate ship battles against other guilds and NPC ghost ships etc.
Now those are all long term goals, I understand that - but you’d attract lots of players for the next expansion with features like that.
If you want quick wins for 9.1.5. or 9.2., try this:
New items from Guild Vendor - Cosmetics! Make it easier to show guild loyalty by adding new transmog, pets, flags etc.
Portait Styles - Much like the current Honour system, add portrait styles for long service to a guild. Maybe show the guild age visually somehow. All of this I believe will reinforce members feeling of being part of something special. Building something.
Update Gold Rewards - the current weekly Raids, Dungeons and Battlegrounds rewards are too low. Also, why are dungeons and M+ separate? Make M+ count towards the weekly dungeons!
That’s all I have for guilds for now.
Please don’t ignore the most important structure in the game for any longer.
PS:Sorry for the deleted posts but I wanted to share this is my my main,
@sackogold
I am not a old player from wow but i kinda agree with your points there. something more that the guild could actually do together and place for us to gather, also having like a special hearthstone to go directly to the guild and maybe some teleports to some specific cities (SW, Oribos, Bolarus).
Also as a new player, there is no real interaction with previous cities unless you want to make a specific quest for achiev or a new guardian bear transmog.
Getting to exalted in previous expansions seems like psychotic and some times just feels schizophrenic. So we have catch up mechanics for current expansions but we dont have it for previous ones? (if we do, doesnt really feel like it at all, just feels like endless grinding).
Regarding the guild ships, omg that sounds awesome, and would actually be a good idea to get some reputation from other places of the wow world.
Also they could increase the rewards for higher lvl dungeons, like getting ilvl 252 from M20 for example. Just feels that besides of rating (and the teleports), there is not much rewards unless you want to brag about it.
And to finalize, we dont really care about whats happening inside, thats your problem. But you should give more attention to the ones that keep this game running (THE PLAYERS). I dont think (as it was mentioned above) that there is actually someone listening to our struggles or ideas. You want to report some one, done, but no notification saying that we where wrong or correct or that something is happening related to the subject.
I dont really feel that some one will actually give a a dump about what is written here but thank you for reading it.
it will turn either into garrisons, covenant sanctum or class halls. bad idea, game isnt designed around it. housing is much better with small houses etc, and personalized, no quests and all that bs in it.
another chore, no thank you.
no. no one wants to sail ships to old zones and play ship battles, we need a proper good content.
this is a good idea ye, same for portraits.
no, it’ll plument the economy and u’ll be able to farm gold just by doing content and having 50 guilds.
There is nothing wrong with Garrisons, but this is not a solo instance - it’s for everyone in your guild. The game is (or should be and used to be) designed around guilds, and this reinforces that.
Well you don’t have to do them. I would enjoy and being a GM for 14 years now, I know that a lot of others would too.
“No one” - you mean ‘I don’t want to’. I also mentioned nothing about old zones. Obviously, this would be for the new zones of the next expansion.
Why will it plummet the economy? You don’t even know how much gold we’re talking about here. Why aren’t the current guild rewards plummetting the economy? It’s all about balance.
I disagree.
I would have zero interest in content that I have no control over.
So my color-blind, bad taste Guild Master gets to decide what the place looks like and such? Nope. Just a big fat ‘nope’ from me.
I’d rather have playre housing than guild halls, especially since they’ll most likely use the same tech but one is far more interesting than the other.
Could be interesting as long as it’s optional. Your idea of buffs would turn that into a mandatory chore and we already have enough of them imo. Tmogs, gold etc, this kind of rewards could be interesting. Performances should however not be included in that feature
Just… Why ? What makes you think a ship even makes sense in WoW ? The world is built so that each continent is its own micro-server (I mean really, even back in vanilla when you cross the ocean between eastern kingdom and kalimdor you log out of the eastern kingdom server of your realm and log on the kalimdor server), this just doesn’t work even with the current sharding tech.
The oceans are empty and cata proved that underwater content was badly received. A ship makes 0 sense in WoW let alone a “guild ship”
Same as above, cosmetics and optional stuff is fine. Recipes and performances on the other hand are not imo
There’s imo enough gold to be made from the open world & BOEs imo, do guilds really need that incentive ?
Well that’s when you can create your own guild, or find one that matches your tastes.
You should need guilds to do the hardest content in the game. If you wanjt to plod along and do questing, then you generally won’t need to be in a guild if you don’t want to.
Well whats stopping Guild Halls having personal plots for guild members? Like a solo instance area within the overall Guild Hall/Castle. Use your imagination a bit.
Yep well buff doesn’t equate to power. A buff can mean many different things. Like I said, it just needs to be good; whatever it is.
This reply makes me think that you A) haven’t read what I typed or B) don’t play the game. Ships are everywhere in WoW and always have been, so yes - it fits.
Why put them in? Because I think it would be fun; and I believe others would too.
Whether the “current sharding tech” works with it or not I don’t care - thats not my problem. Make it work.
Why are you talking about underwater? I mentioned nothing about it and ships generally don’t sail underwater unless they’re visiting Davey Jones’ locker.
Need - maybe not, but it’d be a nice reward for doing the activities.
Well, if we’re on the subject of guilds, this is an old, old, old suggestion from me.
Give Guilds Reasons To Group for Content.
“Reasons” here sort of means “Incentives”, but not necessarily always.
The devs backed WAAAAAAAY off guild incentives after Cata, where it had turned into a farce, but that doesn’t mean that the principle was wrong; just the specifics of the reward system.
Guilds should have reasons to group for EVERYTHING. There should be rewards for that, and the stats for grouping should be shown in guild adverts and on their web page.
No, I’m not designing the game because I’m a professional in a different industry. Stop trying to be a smartarse and open your mind a little.
That’s right, and I don’t. I actually like the idea of Torghast but the rewards for it are pointless. Levelling in Torghast will change that for me.
The very first reply I had said it was a great idea so I think you need to re-evaluate your statement.
Ok, your opinion. Classic was, and I think it’s success shows that the model is popular. I’m not saying that everything in the game should revolve around guilds; I’m saying that a good percentage of content should be designed to make people want to find a guild - just like Classic.
“Low” and “Balanced” are not two words that should be used together in this statement. They haven’t been adjusted in years so how can they be balanced?
As I said - you don’t have to join a guild for purely social stuff. If your guild is just like a chat room for you, then you’re talking about the visuals - so you can choose not to use them or you can make your own guild, or join one that looks good to you (as I said in my previous post).
These are ideas - they can be added to or iterated on to form a good system. Just because it doesn’t fit for you right now in your mind, doesn’t mean it has to be negative for you in the long run.
Let’s look at baseline. We get 1800 per character per day from Callings. What does it make sense to pay a guild for something? In Cata, the guild gold system - mostly the 10% of loot thing - had turned into a free ATM for Guild Masters, and that led to a lot of bad. OTOH, 1K gold for doing 5 dungeons or something doesn’t register on the meter.
While I wouldn’t rule out gold as part of the incentive structure, I see guild perks as more versatile and more engaging - guild perks that HAVE TO BE KEPT UP TO DATE. Complete so many guild activities over three weeks, and you get your perks over the next three weeks, on a rolling basis. Have Guild Will Travel, Mobile Banking, Rep and XP Banners, bonus loot chances (even if not on the big-ticket items) like the Kyrian Cleansed Vestments trait, further HS CD reductions, a better Music Box, any little QoL things like that.
Also, for lesser guilds, being able to show that they Actually DO Things Together will be a big deal.
The gold rewards can be tied behind Raiding and harder content like that. It’s currently 1500g for a guild kill of 1 raid boss per week. Would it break the economy to raise that to 5000g, for example? It would help with repairs.
Or, as you suggested, maybe you get a buff that makes your gear ‘indestructible’ for the week.
At the end of the day, you just have to make people feel rewarded.
Well, guilds come with perks too.
If I make my own, those perks go away.
Because I damn well sure don’t want to run an ACTUAL guild.
I was an officer for a while and I never ever ever want anything even remotely resembling that again.
All you’ve said so far is that you just want to chill in a guild socially, but you think my idea is bad because you won’t benefit from it? Am I right there? Well tell me why you should benefit from it.
Anyway, I’d argue that you still would benefit because guilds would become more active due to players wanting to be in them.
As far as I can tell you argument against is that you’ll miss out on transmog and general collectibles. Correct me if I’m wrong.
