Finally i have some time

Hello everyone.
I never had the time to level to 80 in Wrath Classic, IRL and other stuff made it quite hard for me to get online and level up.

I don’t know if it’s to late to start Wrath, i see a topic here and there, mentioning that Classic WOTLK is dead, i guess everyone have an opinion about the state of things, i hope it’s not late for me, if it is well that’s on me, at least i have time to get ready for Cataclysm.

I was wondering about the PvP in Wrath, especially in battlegrounds, is it true that this expansion is one that sees classes to me somewhat balanced or are there classes that clearly standout?
In terms of the faction, does it matter if you pick Alliance or Horde for PvP? Personally i prefer the Horde but when i get to read some stuff on the forums and reddit it seems that the consensus is that Alliance has a clear advantage. Is this true?

If your main goal is to just level to 80 and experience that journey, it’s perfectly viable and doable even this late into WotLK. The world is open for you, and the dungeon finder is somewhat active during normal hours. My experience is that people running low level content are relatively considerate towards players starting out.

Anything related to level 80 endgame though, I wouldn’t bother at this point as a fresh player, to be completely honest. The barrier to entry is ridiculously high, you need either a couple of already well established friends that can carry you, or A LOT of gold, think 100k and beyond. Serious guilds will probably not consider anyone starting out, and raid pugs are mostly interested in well established raiders alts.

You can try your luck in level 80 5 man dungeons though (there’s this extended version of heroic dungeons called Gamma). But you should know people running these are not as considerate towards a fresh player starting out. So it’s a rather toxic place to be in, especially for anyone that isn’t an overgeared minmax tryhard.

I rarely PvP at all in this game anymore. But you should know that battlegrounds are basically a bot infested mess, so if that’s not your cup of tea you should probably avoid them. Also prepare to be oneshot by every Shadowmourne wielding warrior the moment you enter a battleground, the power difference between low gear and high end gear is enormous this late into the expansion.

So to sum it up, you CAN start WotLK classic and level up to 80. But you will be lightyears behind everyone else, and it will be very difficult, if not impossible, to catch up when you’re at max level. I’d say the newly released Season of Discovery is a more friendly environment for a player starting out.

Edit: As for what faction to choose. It depends what you value. The most active community in EU is probably Gehennas horde, if you prefer to have a large community of players around you. But my experience is also that the larger the realm, the more tryhard and toxic the general vibe is. So if you value smaller community, but a bit more relaxed environment, you should probably look into a server like Mograine horde. Alliance counterpart would be Firemaw for the big realm, and a realm like Earthshaker for a slightly smaller, but still active, community.

Which faction you choose won’t matter that much performance-wise. There’s a bias towards the top PvP’ers picking alliance due to humans essentially getting a free pvp trinket via racial. But this difference will be minimal in casual pvp like battlegrounds and low rated arena games. So just play what you enjoy, I’d say.

jezus - where you have those imaginary barriers ?

you can easily get to 5400 score in week of spamming gammas and then joing 25 man icc - ton of those going and even more will happen with buff groing to 30 %,

gammas are filled to the brim with fresh 80 spaming and gearing them at any time of day .

only “Dead” content is atm icc 10 man normal (just normal with no bosses on hc ) becaue with gammas gear there is no point to do normals without at least few bosses on hc

Well it’s partly players like yourself creating these absurd demands. I will just leave one of your quotes from another thread a couple of weeks ago.

I know this first hand since I somewhat recently geared a tank through RDF Gammas. If you’re not a decked out ICC raider when stepping into a gamma, people will flame you, actively try to sabotage your performance and make your life sour for having the audacity to gear up in catch-up content, because reasons. It’s very obvious these players think you’re not worthy to even be in there in the first place. It doesn’t matter if you put effort to buy well itemized BoE’s, funnel epic gems, bis enchants and consumes from your main. If your gear level isn’t up to par for a community set standard, you’re out.

Will you eventually get geared enough for entry level raids this way? Yes, probably. Is it a good experience? Heck no. Would I recommend it to a new player? No way.

And even if you endured this soul crushing mess and are on your way of denouncing humanity in the process, you still probably would get declined to said pug because you lack achievements and/or decent parses. It’s literally the WoW equivalent of needing 2 years full time work experience to land a junior internship.

Get to 80 then wait for Cataclysm in April/May

that quote was for troll who whined why he cant join hc lich king with 5300 gear

im speaking about first few normal bosses on 25 man -_- on monday - tuesday there is ton of such 25 groups going - the "first 4 bosses we will see if we can get fester/rot/valythria " consisting of low level alts / charst just before reset.

my holy pala which i boosted last saturday is atm 5250 and will hit 5400 by the end of weekend - would be higher gs already if i didnt have 25 hc runs on wednesday / thursday on my other chars and wasnt doing 5x1 m+ on my retail characters.

over this week i have had literaly 1 player flaming me as healer. he is now on my ignore list - rest of groups was super nice even when we wiped.

all by just spaming gammas and 2 pieces of boe gear which i bough because i dont have anything to do with my primordial saronites anyway on druid and hunter anymore

people who whine about not having enough gear do not put effort . and then whine that others see that.

Nope it wasn’t, if you read the thread.

Looking at your reply here and on other threads it sounds like a new player should stay away from this game honestly, maybe you are right, maybe i should look into some non official projects.

About the server or the faction to pick i am trying to stay away from the bigger servers because of a bigger pool of toxicity and elitism. I was thinking that Nethergarde Keep would be a good place to go to but now reading about the gear requirements for raids i am not so sure i should start now, at least in official.

Find a casual normal 25 Man raiding guild . Then you will have 0 req for gear.

If people expect to join instantly after dinging 80 , 10 or 11/12 hc guild then yes ofc they will be just laught at.

It all boils down to what your in game goal is, really.

The leveling experience on WotLK classic servers is still good in my opinion. Currently leveling another alt through the vanilla content and enjoying it. Now that dungeon finder is added, you can mix questing with dungeons relatively easy.

But for anything max level related, I’d follow Dotties advice really. Enjoy the 1-80 journey to its fullest and try the Cataclysm endgame instead in a couple of months time. That will probably get you more bang for your buck.

wrath isn’t dead, and it’s still worth leveling. you have more than enough time to clear ICC at this phase and get to rank 1 in arena. there are absurd catch up mechanics implemented that can get you in 230-245 ilvl / 5500 gs gear just from doing a few heroics, which is entry level for a full icc 10. the only question is if you are fine with your character being ported to cata in a few months time. also if you want to get to 80 just to prepare for cata, well just wait for the prepatch because leveling becomes 100x faster in cata than it is right now and there’ll be more people in the world.

Tbh from what i’ve read from babastiltz hes living in different world. Imo you can’t really play on different servers than firemaw/golemagg/genehas as other servers are dead which means there are less possible raids to enter. I’ve been watching a stream od a guy who’s casual, had some mix of pvp/emblem gear and i havent seen any toxicity in dungeons cos theres basically no point in doing them if youre full geared so everyone whos doing dungeons is gearing and have no reason to be toxic really. He was also able to do some normal icc however at this point if you dont have gear you can’t really expect to enter 12/12 hc raid and people who do normal raids are really bad so its gonna be pain to gear up at these mostly normal bosses raids. From my experience even my undergeated full pvp warr with 4k dps got invited and noone had any issue about that.

Tldr if you want to play the game casually you can however dont expect to get invited to HC lk if youre undergeared and inexperienced. When it comes to toxicity then idk its same for every game at some point you run into some weird people however its not like everyone would flame you 24/7 for existing if youre normal human being. When it comes to pvp then i consider game rather dead (ofc there are teams queing however in S5 there were like 2,5x more people), also i would recommend some class that doesnt need much of pve gear cos its rather hard to get full bis for warriors for example if you have no prior experience. Also bgs are indeed full of bots. You can still enjoy arenas tho.
Babastiltz hates the game all the time. For some reason everyone Hes met is toxic towards him. Personally i have different experience. If you want to play casually you ofc can, if you want to try hard a little bit it might be hard to find pvp friends at this point.

yes if your goal is hc lk 25 then indeed it may be a little lat if you are fresh level 80

but you are dishonest - 99,9% of people who play wrath classic dont play with goal of killing lk hc .

most are perfectly ok jsut killing it on normal and then farming first 10 hc bosses for gear

Then you’re misinterpreting me. I don’t hate the game in itself at all. WotLk is one of my favourite versions of WoW. Although there has been a few questionable design choices on Blizzards end, the vast majority of the games problems are community driven, in my opinion. And that’s mostly what I’ve been vocal about here.

And I stand behind that 100%. I feel very disconnected from the 2023-2024 classic community. It’s a different and more toxic environment to be in compared to just back in 2019.

Maybe you are just not good enough ? Its ok to admit IT there is no shame in that . and people dont want to carry others in hc icc nwoadays like they did back in day that’s for sure. Which is understable too since "Dads guilds " want to optimize the time they have to Play wow im in that spot too as we have very very little of me Alone time

Why carry dead weight when you can just pugs those last 1-3 spots if people dont show up .

And im era of logs and discord sign ups its quite easy to fill those spots .

I’m not Nota-material these days, not by a long shot. I don’t try to be either. But within the right circumstances, I have always been close-to top parsing in a semi-hardcore setting, as far as classic raiding goes. As different roles and different classes. I feel confident enough to say I could do any classic content this far and exceed. And I almost did that aswell, except my guild falling apart just before our LK HC kill. Partly because of SoD, partly because of certain officers turned out to be somewhat corrupt and planned dirty stuff behind our backs.

However, just being the top dog no matter what is no longer something I’m actively seeking. My real life is competitive enough, I don’t feel like I have to prove myself in a computer game anymore. I know people who put up with all kinds of bull just to play at the highest possible level. I used to be like that, but I cba anymore. There’s no sense of community, there’s just individuals playing multiplayer games for their own personal benefit and interest, sometimes at the expense of others.

I can confirm this.
I prefer the leveling world relatively empty - to minimise competition - which is achieved, given most are 80. And with RDF, you can merrily level anything.

Beyond worrying about what’s at 80 (I’d go for alpha/beta before gamma, if possible), there are a couple changes compared to one year ago - many people have heirlooms, rushing one more alt to experience ICC with, also there is significant skip culture, which is particularly awkward while leveling, even more so in Gundrak where you probably wipe in the process, too. (They changed the entrance from snake to rhino boss.)

Besides wonderful human nature, I attribute minmax toxicity to farm mode. The game is generally easy and people don’t actually enjoy it as an adventure, it’s more about farming xp for levels, gold for the GDKP, and so on.

The vanilla zones and quests will all be changed in Cata. If you want to experience the vanilla world, level now. If vanilla quests/zones are what you are mostly interested in, then Classic Era/Hardcore/SoD is the better choice.

There is already cata comming, now Its waste of time to Farm bis gear

Lmao your main part of the post is 21 lines and your TLDR is 22 lines!:rofl::rofl:
