Finally started Shadowlands

Please tell me the rest of the content is not as boring as the Bastion zone?

I’m finding myself being so much more distracted in this zone. Watching youtube & twitch, just to give my brain time to reset before going back to get Bastion completed.

I really do hope other zones are more interesting than this.

I have to admit was not a fan of Bastion zone, personally found the other areas better - grit your teeth and get through it :+1:

I lost my mind and started the quests in DF on my druid, that I never did due to just leveling through timewalking dungeons.

I will go back to Bastion at some point, but no clue why that zone just drains me of any kind of excitement to finally go through content I’ve not done.

from what i heard many people found it same as u have .

Pushing through it now, I think I’ve almost done it… I hope!

Bastion was one of the good zones…

@Dewio I started Shadowlands recently as well, been hanging out in classic versions the recent years (which I love). So I wanted to get back into retail again to see what’s going on. I feel the same as you, I started it several times, but I just find the whole thing so boring, in Bastion. There is no connection to anything I know from before, it’s like playing a different game. I’ve been reading around to try to see if it gets better later. I would like to see the story, what happens to Anduin, and all that. But yeah. Not a good start. I didn’t buy Dragonflight yet, and I’m a little hesitant about that because of this. I don’t know if that’s better. But your thread is giving me motivation to go back and give it a try again. :+1:

Finally Bastion finished and now in Maldraxxas, which visually looks cool!

But in relation to your question Adrianophe, DF is worth the purchase I enjoyed it and I’ve leveled up many characters, repeating all the quests/zones. I know I won’t be returned to the Shadowlands content, once I’ve completed it on this Warlock, unless it’s something another character really really really really really really really needs from that place!

Maldraxxus was way better. If only we’d been able to actuallychoose our covanants rather then being forced into the boring generic angels with questionable agenda.

Yeah, all my chars needed to be fey’s … got real fed up with that at the end.

This calls for my hot take:

Shadowlands was only bad on a mechanical point and lore, the visuals were amazing, least favourite zone being maldraxxus and favourite zone being revendreth, but I would still consider the entirety of the zones visually stunning and having an amazing atmosphere.

The day to day experiance was alot better in shadowlands for me than DF, overarching progression not so much but selavi, was alot more cluttered by “chores” but idk, I enjoyed them and really played alot of wow in that expansion.

Story not so much but the beautiful brightness of bastion is a visual beauty to look at, and going through it on my characters I genuinely enjoyed it, albeit I don’t read quest text and just get a general sense of the story via actions.

Was a pvp player at the time and if you were pvp rarely was maldraxxus not bis for your class due to fleshcraft doubling your health.

All the zones were drab, mostly ugly, depressing and just didn’t feel like WoW to me.
It’s cool you like Maldraxxus; to me that was the most ugly of the zones (well… The Maw is worse, but I never counted that as a ‘real’ zone - it was nothing more than a horrible failed experiment imo).

Some of Revendreth’s parts looked kinda cool, but overal just more dark, dreary stuff.
Same with Ardenweald; some nice parts, but the unnatural colours eventually got to me and I didn’t want to be in that zone anymore either.

As far as zones go Shadowlands is just above TBC with its ugly depressing zones. And that’s mostly because at least in SL it’s higher quality ugly depressing zones instead of pixelated, low poly ugly depressing zones like in TBC.

I strongly disagree. That was part of why I didn’t like SL: I hated the visuals. So horribly dark, edgy, depressing and ugly. As a predominantly world content player, I find the zones very important to the appeal of an expansion. It’s why BfA ranks higher than it probably should for me personally because the initial 6 zones in that expansion were amazing; all of them great in their own way.

Side note: It’s also why I’m just a tiny bit worried about TWW. The dark underground zones might not be to my liking if Zaralek Cavern is anything to go by.

Being in Maldraxxus makes me want to make a Deathknight and just stay in that zone all day xD

Sincerely SL was the most depressing and bad exp imho. Even the zones (except zereth mortis) werent somewehere i never like to go.
Probably some parts of bastion and revendreth but just for brief time.
i couldnt highlight more Tah

Im playin now in BFA and even i dont like many part of the expansion, the zones are wonderful (except nazjatar).

I didnt like bastion either. No idea why they started this expansion with the worst zone. But there is hope for you. The rest of the covenants were pretty solid, at least in my opinion. Ardenweald was great, especially if you join the night fae.

Good thing you’re not a collector, worst expansion ever if you were with the insane anima cost of everything along with stuff exclusively locked behind covenants for rares to drop specific stuff they only drop if you were with said covenant.

Then there’s the slow as hell leveling of followers with the mission table… I’ve been stuck with followers at level 40-50+, highest being 52, for months and the cap is 60. It’s slow because you either wait for them to heal up after a mission, or spend an obscene amount of anima to heal them…

Yeah I don’t really care about achievements/collecting.

Unlock Stitches and contruct your companions, fits well to Warlock class
Maldraxxus and Revendreth were my go to covenents and zones. Not a huge fan of Bastion and Fae, Fae part of the campaign was the worst one for me.

Yeah I’ll continue with the quests and such, once I get my child put down for her nap or I may nap as well, no sure yet!

But I’ll get it done
