Finding out what type of ghost / stealth forum ban you have, to figure out how to appeal?

I have had a ghost forum ban that has been in place for a while now; I am not sure how long it has been in place, but several weeks at least;

I didn’t receive any email notification from Blizzard, and cannot find any info on being banned in my account info - this is why I call it a ‘ghost’ ban - you are prevented from using the forums, but with no communication from Blizzard via any channel, and no messages attached to your account etc.

I can post in customer support, and reply in customer support, but all other forums don’t have reply buttons on any topics, and the ‘new topic’ just ‘presses’ when clicked, and nothing else happens. This means I cannot make new topics anywhere except customer support, and cannot reply to any topics except those in customer support.

While forum / account actions are not to be discussed, the problem I have is that I have had no communication whatsoever, and no notifications when trying to post to other forums. This means I cannot know what type of ban I am trying to appeal, or how to even appeal it etc.

I would be grateful for some advice on how to proceed, as it is frustrating! - thank you! :slight_smile:

Just to get the obvious out of the way first, you do have a current subscription?

Yes - and have the TWW expansion also!

Providing you have no parental controls on your account the only other thing you can do is contact Customer Service, a link is included in the article.

Can you try resetting you password and/or relogging?

Hey Bog,

There is no shadowban system on these forums. Systems that use shadowbans will usually let you enter a message, but other users will not see it, which is not what you’re describing.

That being said, these forums are restricted to players who have an active subscription on their WoW account, to the exception of the CS forums.

If you have an active subscription, and still can’t post in other sections of these forums, please follow the troubleshooting on this page, which will contain some of the answers provided in this thread so far:

Thank you! :slight_smile: the issue is still there (on iPad), but I can see it would let me post on my PC - will log out and in on iPad / clear cookies which should likely fit the issue!
