Finding runes are too hard

I was scared that this would happen when I first saw that it was going to be a discovery kind of season.

The first rune was perfect. You get a quest that in a vague way guide you to the rune. That was awesome and so nostalgic that you had to read the quest to get the direction to the rune.

After that it stopped. I was tempted to use external websites to get locations for runes but I wanted to keep the spirit of discovery. When I was lvl 15 I hadn’t found another rune so I checked online and found that I missed like 4 runes.

Imo it’s so boring to have to look up these kind of stuff on external websites. No excitement what so ever to get a specific guide and cords on where to go.

What do you guys think? Do you think they made it to hard to find runes without external websites/guides apart from the first one?

There’s no way i’d find half the runes if i didn’t use a guide.
It’s not really season of discover-it-yourself.

It’s a little bland, like the druid Wild Growth rune is so random.

Lifebloom is a the back of an enormous cave, you complete all relevant quests in that cave in the entrance. There’s no reason to go out the back.

Sunfire was so easy to miss, its in a spot that you would never go to, there’s no quest there, there’s nothing really.

Starsurge (as horde) is in freaking wetlands at the corner of the map, so random.

Living Seed was really cute, finding flowers (world pickup) and placing the crown on the sad tree’s head. More like that would be cool. (Sadly the most useless rune in the entire game, no argument).

Vendor runes can just go f themselves, let us find the runes, and make it something every player encounters, not unspeakably random where you need to just read wowhead.

And there is no incentive to explore and try to discover these things because you will spend all your time achieving very little, only to find that there aren’t many discoverable runes and that the runes are the only thing to discover.

I was expecting a little more than just runes, like items, quests, pick ups, slightly modified zones…

I ran around most of the world grabbing flight paths and also discovered nothing of interest or difference.

The discovery had me hyped but its more like, just call it season of runes.

Hoping the devs are working on adding new features and discoverable content in phase 2.

rather, the players are accustomed to being led by the hand and everything being marked everywhere. you play the classics again and again. you know which tasks to do and which ones are not worth the time spent. and you don’t even go there. or they are hidden just before your eyes, but you think that no, this cannot be. and you don’t notice.

But someone had to find the runes initially, no?
You people are probably just running around using questie without actually checking the enviroment.

The inbalance of the ease of finding runes between horde/alliance seems to be crazy. Mass regeneration is in Raven Hill cemetary in Duskwood. A fully alliance zone where they would encounter it purely through questing, but what possible reason would horde have to go there and find it without following a guide.

Even certain farms for trash drops for the goblin seem to favour alliance. The best iridescent pearl farms favour alliance by being in wetlands, right next to menethil harbor, or in hillsbrad right next to southshore. Good luck trying to compete as a horde. Same with fish oil dropping from the same murlocs

Good take and I agree with you 100%

I don’t want them to show me exactly where it is. I want them to guide me at least to the right ZONE, but even better “northeast, southeast” etc is the sweet spot.

Read Yangkais answer. It sums it up. It’s IMPOSSIBLE to find all these runes by yourself, without any guidance. You act like ONE guy found all the runes. Ofc all the players combined can find all the runes after a few days. Tho alone it’s impossible.
