Unless I’m missing something here, what other spell has an effect on a target if it is frozen exactly? Because from my experience it seems like the only spell that uses up a charge of Fingers Of Frost proc is Ice Lance for it’s 3x damage. I haven’t tried to see if it works with the talent Shatter as I respecced to fire around lvl 20 and that one does 10% higher crit chance against targets that are frozen so if Fingers treats the next spell cast as if it is frozen then I would assume that this one works against it but you get Fingers and Ice Lance way earlier than you get this talent and when you get Ice Lance it is almost useless apart from quickly tagging enemies so… Why exactly does these two have to be separate runes?
Cause it’d make the rune too powerful? I mean we got other runes that are plenty powerful already. Ice Lance without Fingers Of Frost is practically useless when you could just opt for Living Bomb (also, it is completely unfair that Horde has to walk through high level areas and an alliance chokepoint to get to Loch Modan for the rune or grind away at a horrible drop rate on Fenris Isle (which I gave up on after 40 minutes)) which is better and doesn’t require any proc or long cooldown ability like Frost Nova to use. The only reason you can’t is because of your lack of levels so you’re stuck with Ice Lance.
The reason I respecced eventually is because I found these frost runes to feel… Anemic. Like they hit like a wet noodle. Maybe I’m not playing the game the uber leet way so maybe I’m wrong about this but I feel like Ice Lance really needs a slight damage buff. It shouldn’t be extremely hard hitting but… I mean Burnout just gives me 16% crit chance with all spells and Living Bomb is a dot I can apply on multiple enemies that explodes into AOE at the end. Ice Lance doesn’t feel worth it. But then again I never got to the talent Shatter so maybe that makes a crazy kinda difference.
Also, does Fingers Of Frost only proc when Frostbite (talent) procs? It seemed like it did to me. If that’s true… Why do they share the proc chance? Shouldn’t each have their own 15% chance to freeze a target?
