Do you still just hardcast flamestrike on 4+ targets?
Do you use flamestrike in combustion?

very well, it’s the best mage spec for most dungeons and affixes. strong single target, strong burst aoe, two cheat deaths and great utility from being night fae.
3+ targets with flame patch, or 6+ without
hot streaks in combustion are used on flamestrike at 3+ targets with flame patch, or 6+ without

Forget about it.
Still play Retry or change to Lock or Hunter Survi.
It does alright on ST, but when it comes to AoE, you need a tank doing crazy big pulls so you can burst everything into one target, then spread the massive Ignite.
If your tank is just pulling one pack at a time, Fire’s cleave/AoE damage outside of Combustion is a complete joke.
I had a group yesterday with a Fire Mage in similar gear (I’m Arcane), our tank was pulling 1-2 packs at a time and he did well when his Combustion was active, but he was behind the tank whenever Combustion was down.
No you dont, you aoe combust massive pulls? Ignite is kinda target capped. If you play skb you rarely aren’t combusting anyway.

Also Hunter Survival, or Windwalker Monk, now they’ve been buffed 10% more!
Mage actually our dps is similar to tank…

You’d be surprised how much overall you could do if andybrew was tanking your run
This is basically the key to it. You are very reliant on pulls made by your tank, which you want, because Combustion is the time when you are your strongest (just like during BFA: You need pre-planned pulls, which is why fire is less reliable in pugs compared to frost.)
I reckon it shouldn’t be an issue if you use the SKB. You should not be too far behind said specs, but yes, it is to be expected to have pack pulls where you are below the tank on damage, double so if they have their cooldowns up when you do not.

its irrelevant cause everyone is playing 2 locks hunter on groups and they would get ww or rogue as 3rd dps, so either being 4rth of 5th its irrelevant cause you still cant get into any key at all as mage, so instead of being clueless, you better keep your mouth shut
you better tell those teams pushing +31s and +30s with a mage they’re trolling by not swapping him out for a ww or rogue, i’m sure your expert insight will set them straight
