Many have written about this allready but has to be said again …
The latest tuning is totally messed up tbh.
This has nothing to do with mages has to be nr one or bad excuses and say something like: “Why complain when you have frost specc and arcane that is good.” Such is just stupid. Every class has 3 specc and should be fun and able to play.
Before class tuning I did alot of dungeons and long tests against dummies to get some raw dmg-data, just to be able compare dmg-numbers.
If specced into full living bomb it does about 1-2 % of my overall dmg and Frostfire bolt isn´t used much at all cause procs, giving fire mage instant casts.
The “big buff” to living bomb is 30 %. That´s a joke !
30 % to something that does 2 % of your overall dmg is close to nothing. And same goes for Ffb, it doesn´t change ANYTHING !
Fire mage doesn´t really need more % for those spells.
Blizzard must re-work how living bomb works.
And the talent tree have 6 talents to use to get full out of Living Bomb, just get what ? 6 talents for Nothing !!
I can jump on to arcane or frost and do allmot 3 times the dmg then fire, without even work hard for it. But we are many mages that loves fire and hate arcane / frost. Don´t force us to avoid fire pls.

I totally agree. Blizzard is making fun of the players! What if Blizzard brought back:
Ignite - increase damage by 20% (in Dragonflight season 1, I had the same Ignite as now)
A 5% increase to Pyroblast was a joke! The damage should be increased by at least 10%
Kindling - reduce the remaining CD on Combustion not 1 sec but change for 1.5sec
Dying Bomb needs at least another 70% buff to become Living Bomb.
I don’t feel the ST dmg is really awful, but ironically our aoe dmg is pathetic.
I really hope they will tune everything up, Fire is so much fun to play right now but the dps it produces is unacceptable.
For the 1st time since many years I tried arcane for real and agree, it is pretty okej. But as a bit old player I find it hard to change alot of old keybindings with all these new abilities. Arcane isn´t all that hard when you get into it, more a bit stressy cause it isn´t forgiven if you mess up your rotation.
I’m playing Sunfury build, I’m ilvl 570 and I do 550k-600k dps on ST which I think is pretty good for that ilvl, but ofc It’s no match for Arcane or Frost. In Frost I can reach 720k-750k.
We’ll be much wiser once M+ / Raid hits, hc dungeons aren’t a reliable environment to evaluate how our dps really is.
I use Ffb for 3 reasons:
If calculating Ffb doing more dps then Fb + Ffb both leaving a dot so total dmg is higher and it have the slow. Not to mention the Hero-talents that can make Ffb instant and greatly stack up the dmg-done. On paper atleast that looks good.
Backside though is that each hit from Ffb is little lower wich gives that each Ignite are little lower too and this could have an impact on sedondary stats.
Will Ffb build benefit more from Haste and Crit for these reasons then the standard Fb-build? Tried to sim this but no fully answers …

They will need 100 hot fixes or a complete new expansion to put this spec where it should be…
But could do it in half of time… If they listen to the community.
Looks like they love to re-work things and have a lot of spare time to take this slow development strategy.
Honestly, would be more beneficial for the players if you buff the spec to complete close to DK and Paladin for the new raid and M+ content.
Don’t think where the spec should be in 2 years!
Put a target goal for the next 3 months!
Then you don’t get people complaining here and can downgrade if necessary later.
I don´t see anything wrong it self for complaining, cause ppl do that (mostly) cause they care and love something they have thoughts about.
But Blizz should have the knowledge and experience, I belive, to not make a class totally bottom. I still feel though that fire mage is a fun class to play, most of its animation is pretty nice and both smoth and pretty easy to play but still have some challenge to keep up with to make the most out of it.
If it just got some raw, basic overall buff without re-make it to much fire mage would be just fine. Okej, Living bomb takes too much room in the talent-tree for the small dmg it does but thats another thing Blizz could work with over time …
something is wrong with mages and lvling in general . today it feels like every encounter is an elite mob and dungeons are much harder . i am lvl76 now . and i used to love fire mage but it has become a hard job. this is not why i got 25% xp bonus so it take much longer to level… everything became epic…
They’ve really gutted LB damage - it does no damage at all. It’s laugable that frost’s LB hits for up to 5x that of fire - for a fire spell. That’s insane!
Fire mage needs a complete redesign. It is a balancing nightmare because of combustion. They need to forget about chasing this combustion uptime festival with skb and cd reduction. Give us back the proper fire rotation that has sustained damage and a short cooldown like every other class/spec has that provides you with superior damage for 10-15-20 seconds every 1-2 minutes.
I have been saying this for like 5 years they don’t listen.
Honestly, I don’t even feel like playing this game anymore. The only reason I play this game is that I enjoy playing Fire mage. Blizzard completely destroyed this class. They even ignore the opinions of other players. The main thing is that people pay for this game monthly. You’d want to play without just watching the DPS meter, but no one will take you if you have half the DPS. I hope Blizzard wake up and bring back the good old Fire mage. Until then, I’m seriously considering whether to play this game at all.

The problem is they trying do fire Mage a full automatic rifle, but either they end up doing fire Mage an smg that tickles, or a machine gun that destroy everything. At this point fire mage needs rework. Pyroblast must be a rocket launcher for sure , fireball must be strong as well but the remaining be smg with utility and triggering pyroblast ( as it is BUT pyroblast is also smg) . I believe combustion mostly requires rework and god give us inferno blast back that could stun and deal good damage (mostly being cataclysm fire blast) . They could just add inferno blast under sunfury hero talent tree. Anyway had rework ideas but none gonna bother.
Main problems is pyroblast being nerfed because of how combustion work’s, and combustion at this point being too op-ed that needs to be checked by nerfing fire mage damage sources.
Solution for combustion is either enemies with combustion take much increased damage and guarantee critical so an old combustion that adds something from new as an extra ( and fireblast or inferno blast spread it). Or instead of timer has stacks so the amount of spam is being kept on check and pyroblast and flamestrike consume that stacks to increase their damage much further, or any non guarantee critical spell consume that stacks for damage increase and guarantee critical.
Ignite must somehow contribute to burst likely certain talents or spells or whatever infciting increased damage based in Ignite an enemy has and gg your instant casts is strong but isn’t as spamable as it use to be and you have Great burst or spam that tickles that can be used as fast finisher or for triggering your strong burst
