I think you’ve run into the same problem I’ve been having - a lack of crit on gear. Crit is king on shorter fights where your Ignite will be having less of an effect but mastery pulls ahead on longer fights and with more targets.
As for your azerite traits, I’d suggest swapping Blaster Master to Treacherous Covenant on your chest and either taking Earthlink or Blood Siphon instead of Azerite Globules on your head.
Looking at your talents, you’ve got the same as me . Some would take RoP to combine with a trinket/Combustion for huuuge damage but that ends up tanking your damage outside of your cooldowns. Then on the 90 row you might be better taking Flame Patch or LB depending on the situation, although Flame Patch requires the tank sits still, which isn’t always possible and LB is a wasted GCD outside of 10+ targets.
In the case of Pyroclasm, it becomes more powerful the more Wildfire’s you have, but only if you have the ability to actually get the cast off. For some dungeons (like KR) under certain affixes (like Volcanic/Quaking) I’d say take Meteor anyway, due to the sheer amount of movement/cast cancelling you have to do.
Playing pyroclasm you indeed need crit crit and more crit. Pyroclasm procs off converting hotstreaks. So more crits = more hotstreaks = more procs. Mastery is not strong in the current makeup. Haste is the winner in dungeons when the pulls are big enough hardcast flamestrike otherwise vers is your second best secondary.
Wildfire isn’t as good as it used to be but is by no means bad and you definetly want one. Outside of your one Wildfire, there’s not much between firemind, blastermaster and a few of the generic ones. Check out bloodmallet or herodamage for a list of traits.
Ideally you’ll also want the 2 trinkets that are by far the best for fire atm.
Sinister Gladiator’s Badge - lines up with comb and huge stat bump
Incandesant Sliver - adds 3%-4% to your crit rating when you keep it at 10 stacks.
Getting high numbers on packs of mobs in dungeons is a puzzle I am struggling with tbh. Fire is suppose to be a master of cleave dmg but we are not there atm.
We have so much less than we did in Legion. We’re missing baseline Phoenix Flames and Phoenix Reborn, Aftershocks went out the window too and everything else we have is just plain nerfed.
My biggest annoyance with Fire is that Ignite takes so long to deal its damage, 9 freaking seconds is way too long. It constantly goes to waste, since when a target dies the Ignite just disappears, doesn’t matter how big or small it was.
Would be nice if some, or all of an Ignite would explode out of a target when it dies, would certainly make mastery more valuable and perhaps make the spec less self-defeating.
In legion dungeons I used to stack mastery and use mainly single target rotation with a touch of living bomb and top the dps charts. It was so much fun.
Best mastery I could hope for now is about 30% I expect but I don’t get many mastery peices. Don’t think there’s any good mastery trinkets either.
Am not updated with the gear since am just roaming around with 370-371 but what is the current possible max crit that you can get with the updated gear?
