Explain to me, I’m playing on firemage, the first week I spent all the conquest and spark to buy mastery stuff to put together a mastery build. Firemages themselves in pvp not that they are not Tier S, they are most likely not even Tier A, while the main and most effective is considered the haste build, in all modes of play (solo, 2s, 3s), people in the mastery build is not even a third, in the top they are not at all. And Blizzard are nerfing firemages and exactly mastery build. What the hell? I just ruined the game experience and no compensation, even in Hearthstone when they change the cards, they can be sprayed for full price, but now I’m doomed to be 2 weeks behind everyone because you just killed the “average” build, cool!
You could also have done the smart move of either saving conquest if that was such a worry for you (after all, pushing anything significant does not happen week 1), or buying pieces that would fit both possible builds (such as set pieces etc).
It was obvious that there would be tuning. The first week, and I would even say weekS of every single season are like that. You need to learn the pattern and plan accordingly !
And by the way contrary to what you claim the Mastery build was the most represented, and overall the strongest. The only reason to play Haste was RM in 2s and RMP in 3s in setup match-ups. Any more “PvE” comp in 3s demanded the Mastery build (not that RMX hasn’t become somewhat PvE as well, but that is another topic), and even as RMX you often have to use it as well since guaranteed max range damage is far superior to interruptible CC that requires to be close (thus take damage) at the moment. And in shuffle, you obviously play Mastery if you want what has the highest chance of making you win. The point I’m making is, it was to be expected that such a nerf eventually happened. Just the same way everyone knew RDruids were getting nerfed, DHs were getting nerfed, DKs were getting nerfed, and so on. The only questions were when, and how. Not if. Same with Fire.
Who could predict a fire mage nerf?, i played fire as my alt, and they were far from being S tier or maybe even A.
I don’t know how to answer that without sparklng a likely time consuming and useless argument with all the people who are very, very far from mastering the Mage class and will just say “no no no” when I attempt to explain that Fire Mage has one of the very highest DPS potential in the game and can do it 55y away (which is very broken).
But I expected it to happen. I know others did as well. I can’t speak for others, but for me, the only surprise regarding the Fire Mage Mastery build nerfs is “why not 4 months ago”.
You can of course emotionally say that someone has perfected their skills and understands something that mere mortals don’t see, but you can go to a random pvpleaderboard and look at the dry statistics. Total, there are 4 firemages in the top 1000 of the rating(2s)! A real problem, now they will be 0. By the way, arm wars in the top 1000 about 40, but this is not a problem of course, as well as about 150 dc priests! 150! dc priests. In the top 1000. 0 nerfs, it’s all not a problem, the problem is firemages, which are not in the top of any mode, which with the talent “glass cannon” surprise-surprise-surprise high damage. Now that’s awesome, why don’t you google the meaning of “glass cannon”? That’s the point, lots of damage, little hp, mages are fragile(btw, dh had more damage before the nerf)
Ignite damage increased by 20% in PvP combat.
Fireball damage increased by 30% (was 12%) in PvP combat.
Scorch damage increased by 100% (was 45%) in PvP combat.
Glass Cannon (PvP talent) now increases the damage of Ignite, Fireball, and Scorch by 40% (was 100%) and decreases maximum health by 15% (was 20%).
That mean :
ingite -40% dmg
FB -42% dmg
scorch -5% dmg
So why my scorch are now hitting for 40k crit when it was 90k before the nerf ??
What did I miss ?
It was 90k crit only when empowered by Searing Touch while having the other damage amps of the spec up. It is still the case.
90k was the lowest, with all damage amps it was reaching 150k+.
Now it’s 40k without amps and 90k with combustion :x
Weeell not really, f.e. if ignite base damage is x, old dmg with cannon talent was x2(old cannon), now it’s x1.2(buff)*1.4(new cannon)= 1.68, so it’s not -40% but -32% and not really even -32%, because it’s 32% of bonus dmg, overall it’s 1.68/2=0.84, so new ignite is only 16% lower than old(we don’t count that if spells like fireball and scorch deal less, base ignite is also less). I don’t speak english well enough to explain, but this nerf is not THAT huge, but still hurts and unfair for sure
just like my BM hunter / evoker
they nerfed us by 32.5% after i had already purchased mastery gear
you are not alone , balancing happens like this a lot
they recently nerfed Dev evokers mastery stat % from 1.5% to 0.8% too… which means dev evokers now stack haste instead
stat % nerfs should never happen after the season starts IMO… just scale the spells
I can maybe agree for ingite dmg.
But FB and scorch deal waaaay less dmg than anticiped.
