Can you not straight up kill fire mages? Just saw the changes on PTR in a YouTube channel. I understand the nerfs on flamestrike and flamepatch, but don’t nerf Kindling. You’re turning it back to how it was in BfA. You buffed it in Shadowlands, and now you’re making it the same again? What’s point?? Also infernal cascade nerf is quite big too. If you’re gonna enact these changes im gonna quit the game.
Oh btw, what about instead of nerfing something to the core, you buff the others? Wouldn’t that have the same effect? So people can play whatever they want stylistically instead of sticking to the meta.
Kindling absolutely needed a nerf.
The other 2 talents in that row don’t even compete. Fire mage can’t get buffed, it’s already top tier. As a Mage you should want a flexible and balanced talent tree, not a 1 solution fits all approach.
Same with the conduit. Fire mage doesn’t need buffs, and Infernal Cascade is so strong there is no choice, you just default pick it.
Being B tier is absolutely fine. And I don’t think Fire mage will even drop to B tier with these changes. The only way Fire mage drops below B tier is if Frost or Arcane absolutely smash it, which is good for Mages.
If you’re a one trick Fire mage only player then you have signed up to ride the waves. I mained Mage for 8 years, trust me when I say you’ll be fine.
I dont agree. Kindling make the class unique. Lets nerf convoke dmg or the burst in combust window, but don’t make it on even longer cooldown… I am pretty fine with the fire mage playstyle (i don’t mean being S tier with it) but poorly the gamestyle - the short burst windows with high dmg and low dmg outside it.
I just mean we deserved a nerf but lets not make our cooldown longer, just lower its dmg ->keep the bursty playstyle.
The argument was yours and yes, its obvious you could not find a better one.
Regardless of that, they grew ignorant and arrogant.
When people simply stated their broken state in the forums they replied: We are god tier spec since day one and we always will be. Laughing with everybody.
Fire Mage hasn’t really changed much IMO in the past few years and Meteor was dominant for a very long time of that period. I don’t think Kindling makes or breaks Fire mage.
If the damage is toned down to compensate for your super short bursts then your bursts will stop feeling like a burst.
Combustion is a 2 min CD and very powerful. As far as bursts go it’s already on the short end. Kindling will still reduce that quite considerably.
That might be true tho. But still I’d rather have the combust on 1 min cd with some dmg reduction.
Let’s see what the stats scaling will do with the spec tho.
Balance, Fire and Affli are ahead of all other speccs they will get nerfed. How far we’ll know in a few months, but if they go mid/low which is highly unlikely it’s still ok. Those mid-low spots aren’t necessarily booked for others just not you.
Yep.
Plus Kindling scales very well with crit. Initially it looks like a 33% nerf to Kindling, but it’ll be procing more.
As far as I’m aware the new raid gear isn’t available on PTR to test with yet.
I love Mage, I always follow the notes, these notes actually make me want to play Fire again because I love the PVP changes and the PVE changes I don’t think will kill the spec.
Well i don’t like any changes on fire, the ring of fire seems pretty useless to me.
But frost looks promising…
I still wish the fire will be the to go spec, cause i like it most.
Because B-tier or C-tier players got carried for so long by a S+ -tier class, it’s only natural to see them complaining. Maybe it’s time to shine as a player and not as a mage.
Because the end effect is the same? If Blizz buffs everything else, that’s still a nerf to fire mage, but on top of nerfing fire mage, Blizz also just made the game easier. All power in classes is relative. Fire mage is so popular not because of how fun it is, it’s because of how powerful it is relative to all other characters. And it will remain very powerful in its very deliberate and specific niche - uncapped aoe.
Imagine wanting your class to be top 1/2/3/4 consistently as that spec every raid tier and the only changes you got were flat buffs despite being a very clearly dominating class and literally put your alternate specs consistently into the dumpster, its almost like fire mage deserves more nerfs than what its received tbh
I forgot to mention the problem about legendaries. We’ve already farmed and maxed out(not me yet) our bis legendary, which takes several weeks, and in the next patch if we are to change specs our legendary will surely change as well and that will again take several weeks to farm etc. it’s just boring, time and gold consuming.
Went on the ptr to test the changes, and honestly the kindling change isn’t really that bad.
Right now on live i get combust in 55-60 seconds unassisted, but on ptr i was getting it every 60-75s, with current gear. Once we get more gear next patch and hopefully DotG scaling, then we’re probably gonna go back to 60s combust.
The thing is if you kept kindling as it is, we might get combust ever 45-50 seconds with new gear and stuff, which means it desyncs from trinket.
I am not gonna pretend i wasn’t outraged when i saw this though, cause i definitely was.
The IC nerf was kinda yikes though, like i get they want to nerf burst, that is fine, but a compensation buff to pyro should come then to buff our ST damage back, cause it was already mediocre.
I agree. Our damage outside combustion is quite low compared to other specs, so if they wanna nerf our burst window inside combustion, then they should at least buff our damage outside combustion.
