Haste and versa are good, but the problem is crit and mastery.
Mastery was nerfed because otherwise the whole point about bringing back flamestrike would be worthless as you would just pyroblast again even in aoe, and removing the ignite spread is also a bad idea, it’s important for low target cleave. What i would suggest is adding another function to mastery like they did for frost mastery, i would rather have something that you can feel on your rotation, but just more damage on pyroblast, flame strike etc would be enough.
Crit scales low for fire because we are in combustion for a majority of the time, this is not a bad thing, in fact i like it, but it does mean that crit scales bad for fire, what fire needs to solve this is know your enemy, basically crit also increases your crit damage.
Imo they should put ignite back to a passive cleave like it was before but add a talent that stops it spreading but does extra dmg over x seconds. Then put diminishing returns everytime it jumps. Prob make it jump every 3secs instead of 2 or something.
Pyro mastery cleave build is still viable btw. Got a lot of play last week because of bolstering.
If crit increased crit dmg it would have to be a fraction of the crit. Like +10% crit gives +1% crit dmg because crit damage is very strong for fire.
I think this whole ignite nerf thing is stupid. In my opinion, ignite could have stayed as it was and everyone could have decided to play IGNITE+UI+Hyperthermia build or the current SKB+Flamestrike.
We got the UI talent, but it’s simply unusable because flamestrike doesn’t scale with it, so its just a joke xD.
This is stupid, when there would be an option for several builds, but only one is made usable. Simply this ignite nerf killed 2 capstones, UI and Hyperthermia, because hyperhermia is also useless with SKB because it does not procs during combustion and there is a lot of combustion uptime.
You are 100% right, we need haste+versa, nothing else. since dear blizz saw it fit.
But don’t worry, most of the players are not really interested in these things I mentioned above, until then they can still be top dps with minimal efforts. They don’t care about the missed opportunity in the Unleash Inferno talent, etc, all that matters to them is that the fire is top tier now.
Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t bother me too much either, because I prefer frost, since it’s more fun, but if UI+Hyperthermia could be used, it might be even more FUN.
They’d still have to nerf skb to make UI viable. When they made pyroclasm part of skb it was an skb buff and a hyperthermia nerf at the same time. I was saying the same as you bdfore the patch but skb is so much better to play now that I was enjoying myself to much to care.
Its not about SKB, yes it is stong but not the SKB is the main factor that makes UI unusable, its the fact that our ignite was nerfed hard and flamestrike buffed+the fact that UI dosent buff flamestrike damage and flamestrike is not working with any CDR like kindling or UI’s +cdr. With UI if we could use the old pyroblast+ignite spread rotation it would be fun, Big combustion every 40-50 sec.
Im playing frost now, so i have mastery heavy gear, i will try out UI+Hyper+ignite, on keys like vortex or NL, but on other ones where mass aoe is needed i dont think it would work. My current gear doesn’t have enough haste for SKB because of the shatter cap, and just for the sake of trying, I will not convert all crafted items to haste+versa.
Yes its sometimes wierd, but it’s not hard to get used to it. +now it procs only outside of combustion +before the process came when you got a hot streak, but now it procs when you consume it. So its better than before.
