This morning they opened Firemaw and Gehennas to “new” players, the realms are not locked anymore, but you still can’t transfer to them from another realm? What is that? Just curious.

According to the article, Gehennas and Firemaw are open only to character creation. Transfers to these realms are still disabled.
“Starting January 26, 2023, all AM and EU realms are open for character creation.”

I thought that people have tried and cannot make new characters there if they don’t already have them.
I think the reason is they only want a small amount to go there and if they allow transfers a hell of a lot more people will go there. Of course they could only allow one faction to transfer which would still limit the players there.
Actually you can create fresh characters there without restrictions. Seems like they finalized it already since I just managed to create one.
Yea this seems dumb, I get they don’t want to open the flood gates but a little info would be good for if and when this will happen, they can even have requirements like you need a high level there already to transfare, I honestly wouldn’t mind just grinding up a throw away toon if i can actually play with my friends rather then rando pugs on a realm i didn’t even get to pick

I already play on Gehennas, but I wish Blizzard would consider or look into allowing PCT for those who already have characters on Gehennas pre-opening for new characters as I have a couple I want to play, but won’t since they are stuck on other servers and then I won’t play them.
It’s more time spent in-game for me, and more money for Blizzard.

I’m in the exact same boat as you, have a few main characters on Gehennas and a few stuck on another server gathering dust because all my friends / guildies are on Gehennas. I don’t get why they simply won’t allow character transfers if you already have an existing level 80 on the server. I’m pretty sure it won’t affect server performance because they’re all on the same account anyway.
I put a ticket in about a month ago asking if the devs could look into it and all i got back was a rubbish reply saying the support team doesn’t make the decisions (even though i acknowledged that in the ticket itself) and a link to the forums.

Just posting in agreement with some of the other comments here.
I created a couple of characters on Giantstalker when it opened, as I wanted a fresh start and a break from Firemaw. The population there is struggling big time and I’m now back on Firemaw. I would at least like the option of transferring my Giantstalker chars to Firemaw… and I can’t understand why that would be disallowed. I have a max level active character on Firemaw again, so nothing changes, it doesn’t impact population or the economy.
It really is astonishing how little Blizzard have learnt in the 3.5 years that Classic has been active. Could I recommend just asking your customers what they actually want Blizzard…? You already annihilated the natural ecosystem of EU servers when you failed to lock them in early 2022. Also… we’re literally offering you free money.

when can i transfer to firemaw it still say locked for me 
unlocked the servers so fresh bot accounts can be created increasing their Active Sub Counts

i sent 1 character off to Hydraxian just to be able to play
now its stuck there, i got 1 80 and 1 70 on gehennas
why can’t i and other who have characters and clearly play on the realm send other character there???

it’s an argument that has been asked since they were locked and no one has got a reply, devs don’t really read the EU forums (or the US ones for that matter).
The main argument against PCTs I saw on Wotlk release was that the more characters you get to your main on Gehennas, the less prone you are to leave the server. However, just like all of the Blizzard (and fanboys) arguments, this one is also completely outdated and doesn’t work in actual situation. At this stage, those on Gehennas are not going to leave it anyways, PCTs or not, so the main reason to not allow them is gone.
Please let us transfer if we already have max level characters on the server, you are not even adding another player at that point since i already play there on my main and my other characters are just collecting dust on a dead server.

Please so much this! There is just 2 or 3 servers where you can actually PvP on. If you got a character on another, you are basically screwed.
Let us xfer if we already have characters there and are active … its that simple …
Mograine Alliance is pretty much dead so would be nice to be able to transfer off…
Now that new players to Firemaw can create new characters I can think of no possible arguement to continue to prevent active players from moving their alts over…
Back when I transferred over from Gehennas a couple of my characters ended up getting stuck when they locked the realm and I cannot see how continuing to stop me from transferring them is of any support to Firemaw?? Especially as they would be actively played…
Please can you open up paid transfers to Firemaw so your active players like myself can bring over our remaining alts, even if for a short period?
They opened new character creation because botters were running low on accounts.
