Firemaw - EU

Anyone know what happened to the horde population why it’s 99% ally ratio to horde 1%?

Is this Blizzards fault in some way?

In short: Blizzard did the right thing, but players couldn’t take it.

Back in TBC Firemaw got locked, which meant that botters could no longer transfer in loads of materials botted on dead realms. That increased the cost of consumables and RMT gold. Because of that, some players and even whole guilds paid transferred off looking for realms where they could get more bang for their real life buck. Once the population shift from those transfers started being noticeable on Ironforge people panicked, as many transferred to Firemaw from dead realms in the past and didn’t want to repeat it. Then a loophole allowing Horde free transfers to Gehennas was found and the faction evaporated overnight.

Oh that’s interesting, what sort of loophole was it if you know.

I’m kind of stuck on the realm as a horde player, there are around 30 lvl 80’s at peak hours, no economy, 99% alliance. I swear back in vanilla classic it was 55% horde/45% alliance and TBC classic was fairly populated for a while.

Surely i’m entitled to a free transfer if my realm is in such a bad state.

One of the dying realms had free transfers to Gehennas open since Blizzard intended to kill it off. But when Blizzard opened free transfers from full realms to dead realms they probably forgot that that realm was supposed to die and included it in the free transfer list for Firemaw, so you could free transfer to it and then immediately to Gehennas as there is no cooldown on free transfers. It got fixed within 2 or 3 days iirc.

Only free transfers are to Hydraxian Waterlords an RP realm with 55 horde pop instead of 79 horde pop on firemaw…

What a stupid company Blizzard are.

But on Hydraxian Alliance are not much more.

They are anything but stupid in regards to money. Gehennas was overall bigger only in term of Horde population, but was less than Firemaw by the totall number of raiders on both factions. Being #1 population wise and semi balanced realm (with Horde on minority) for both factions made Firemaw a cursed tourists attracting with everyone and their mothers rushing to populate it beyond any limits.

Blizzard desided to pull the lever to open the emergency population pressure relive gauge. That loophole of free transfering to dead realm (was it Mograine?) and then to Gehennas made sure 9K Horde would be gone from Firemaw.

As the Wrath hype dropped and pop numbers along with it on all realms, Blizzard made another manipulation with Firemaw, as they knew it is full of FOMO. The offered free transfer directly from Firemaw to Gehennas at the same time Faction change service was introduced. Needless to say how many else players did Firemaw lost due to this, but this time on Alliance side.

Looking at the dead server list - I think it might’ve been Razorgore or one that does not exist anymore.

EDIT: Yes, it was Razorgore.

You should look for your character on Mograine since everyone who missed realm squishing had their characters automatically moved there.
