Ye - you only need to check the firemaw discord for raids and stuff. Like 95% are GDKPs. It´s not the game that is sh1t. It´s the people^^

For 3 reasons GDKP has become the superior mode (even if you don’t buy gold):
- SR pugs attract undergeared people because they can swoop up all non-SR’d pieces as well. SR pugs tend to take twice as long (sometimes even 4 hours long) as a result
- GDKP rewards performance, SR is attendance based and incentivizes slacking and even leaving before the raid ends (as soon as your items dropped or bosses that can drop your SR items are done)
- GDKP feels more fair, in SR you can lose both your SR rolls on RNG of a dice-roll. In GDKP even if you lose the bid you will have more gold next time, over time you will gear up faster and more reliably.

Gearchecks // Player Logs are not exclusively a thing in GDKPs. Most RL´s make sure that undergeared people are not in the raid
How can you call GDKP superior? The server economies are flooded with “illegally” obtained gold and that gets pumped into GDKPs. Without botting/RMT there wouldn´t be nearly as large pots as people are seing now. How can you consider it fair to bid against people that buy gold and have tons of it? Would you be fine if you knew that your cut basically consists of RMT gold? I would not.
Your last point is valid. I give you that one.

you know GDKP can exist without gold buying (with smaller payouts)
With good botting and gold buying control there would be no problem with GDKP
I’ve never bought gold and I still got rich over time and can buy almost all items I want (except maybe the really rare things like glaives, CVOS or Zhardoom etc).

But it doesn´t and never will be since Blizzard won´t do anything about the important issues.
If there would be 100%certainty that it was “pure” gold i would have no problem with it.
What i forgot in my previous post : God forbid a raid actually takes 4 hours.
Man if you do 4 hours on for example SSC or BT alone it will start to exhaust you.
I’ve done raids like that and the people there are either undergeared, clueless about their class or both. Good players value playing with likeminded players.

If it´s a raid that consists only of wiping sure, but a progression raid is fun, even for multiple hours.
Most hardcore players are in a hardcore guild. Guilds are meant for progression, I don’t consider a pug the place to go for progression. You can’t call it progression if the players in the raid change every week in my opinion.

Also a valid point, i just wanted to let out my resentment for GDKPs (as they are currently run withbought gold and sh1t)
