after playing every other Tank Specc, i would like to understand why the first 5 Seconds as BDK feel so much worse compared to other classes regarding Threat Generation.
My Opener in most cases is DRW → RM / AL → BB . But this in 90% of the time is 3-4 GCDs and i will likely loose Aggro compared to i.E. Warrior → Thunderclap fine for life ; Paladin → Disco Shield ; → Druid Roar AoE Roar Roar Ear Drums bleeding or Monk throwing Kegs at the face.
Any advice or is it just happy little accident? It feels like DRW does not generate either healing nor Threat for the user.
No its that bad since season1 DF. You either focus on.
DRW and press BB but remember its 10 yards , this will most likely lead to droping to very low HP and no runic power.
Pressing HS with or w/o dnd which means threat issues (no BB) but you have some rp to heal yourself with DS.
The problem is you are stuck to either do dmg or healing yourself
Optimal way is to have a group that understands that as a bdk you need more time to gather packs sufficiently for aggro purposes. This is hard to explain for instance to warrior … charge => bladestorm strategy.
So yeah it sucks and then you have this patch that nerfs our dmg.
And i dont even start with the fact that everything is on gcd so technically the minimum time required to set it up properly isa joke in regard to the spell sequence.
And a speciality is the mobs that start to cast tankbuster as first spell or second to first meele, love those.
So nothing new its just garbage. This is lirerally due to raid tanking which on BDK is exactly the opposite … no challenge at all and they cant balance it properly
You have razageth and darkness boosted nerubians queens hitting us and we deflect their blows like it was royal guard in Devil may cry for little issue.
but when 9 crackhead gnolls hit you at the same time in an m+ they turn you to red paste with nothing you can do about it about they sometimes have stronger CC and interrupt resists than raid bosses.
You’re not really doing anything wrong. It’s a huge weakness of the spec. You have to choose between threat and survival in the first few seconds, and if you play with trigger happy dps, it’s very easy for a pull to go completely down the drain.
You need to hit 1-2 blood boils fast to gain aggro, but since it has zero defensive value you’re now already behind defensively and if some of those fast melee hits doesn’t get parried by DrW, you’re probably looking at a purgatory proc.
It helps a bit if you play Deathbringer and have some Exterminate procs running into a pack, as you can just marrowrend for damage and cleave the whole pack.
First pull of a dungeon I usually pre-pop Vampiric Blood>DrW and maybe even lichborne or IBF to make sure I live the first 5-6 seconds
But the bottom line is, that the problem is something only BDK have to deal with.
like any other tank in normal difficulties yeah?
i tried m+ as both prot war and Blood DK, both are equally tough once pull gets going, but we all know blood DK has more issues in the first five seconds
Do you know how many buttons give boneshield currently in TWW? this is not dragonflight anymore my friend.
they took away all extra sources, and only recently only gave one back in deathbringer hero spec, which they also nerfed damage for, because you know, Nerf DK, buff monk.
