But maybe the guides on youtube and WoWhead (comment section) are really so good, that people win if they follow that.
I have never followed their advise, so maybe that’s the reason why I don’t win
if you are a druid, and go in a group with people spotting new pools for you, you can rig the game in your favor. there are probably many other “tricks” too. i’ve needed this for salty since wotlk. i did the northrend derby (when it was up) and one time i caught the shark so fast and ported back to dala (hs set there) but i still didn’t win. after that, i just lost all hope as, like you said, how can people do this so fast. ive tried a couple of time in October this year, but again, nowhere near winning.
i dunno if people are PURPOSELY trying to ruin the achieve for others, but i would say yes, people are doing it multiple times to get all the rewards, and not all rewards are account bound.
PLUS remember, through the magic of crz (insert sarcasm) its the first 50 winners from ALL over the EU. so yeah, what is EU, 1.5M players? ok not all of them play, but its less chance than facing a few hundred on your own server and needing first.
as an achievement hunter this annoys me. i dont think i will ever get this, and i need it on rogue so i cant go on a druid to increase chances.
ALSO the contest is bugged anyway as for hours after it finishes, you get the wq text come up when you enter STV, but there are no longer any fish pools. some have even said this text shows up on monday but i cant confirm. so who knows what other bugs MAY be helping someone to win?
they will never do this. and it seems a little too much of a freebe even i will say.
off the top of my head, the only thing i can think of to suggest is to remove CRZ in STV north and STV south. that way we are only facing off against our own server, but maybe increase it to the first 5 people to win. oh, and dont make it a WQ. make it an event like it was originally.
if not that, then the only other thing would be to increase the number of winners to 100 or even 200. if 50 people are winning inside of 10 minutes, while others barely are half way there, there is OBVIOUSLY an issue somewhere. the only time i tried it recently, i think i got to 30? but it could have been less. i was just annoyed cause then there was confusion cause i couldn’t find any more pools, but it didn’t say it was over.
it just needs to be looked at carefully and overhauled. either that or remove it from salty achievement. but im not sure would that be fair in general either. i dunno. blizz broke it with CRZ and sharding.
oooo another thought… restrict flying during the event maybe. that way druids wouldn’t really have an advantage. most fishers have either the lego rod, or the pandaland raft. or the waterstrider. so getting to these things should not be an issue. just another idea that might work? input anyone?
just doing the blood elf heritage questline, because, what else should i be doing on the 25th december… and opening the world map for eastern kingdoms, i see the world quest:
Stranglethorn Fishing Extravaganza. time left: 23 hours. 0/40 speckled tastyfish.
it is nearly 8am on a tuesday morning! why is this still up unless it is clearly broke. blizz, can you look into this, and if possible make it more attainable, even if it means going back to the way it was pre cata. also going to put in a bug report. im not going to bother seeing if i can fish pools though. i have other things i’d rather do and i can presume from what happened last time that there will be no pools.
if you meant me, then i already mentioned that i collect achievements on this rogue so that dont help. also, as realms are connected now for the fishing tournament, i dont think going on a RP realm will help much, if at all.
found a post i made back in jully, so noticed it even back then!
you dont understand the current state of things?
when you had to win, you were only facing your server. maybe a few hundred or few thousand players, and not all would be fishing.
NOW you face the whole of the EU, so even though you are top 50, not first, you are facing against way more players.
Well i have won the tournament during crossrealm also. I think ive won the tournament 6 or 7 times total.
Its not hard at all. Just pick your spot with many possible schools and be fast. If you are a druid its like you have cheats on.
When i go and take part on the tournament i almost always pick the northern most tiny islands. There is plenty of schools even if you have competition.
Also set you HS to Booty Bay, ive lost few tournaments by few seconds for having to fly there when i forgot to put my HS to BB inn.
edit: reason why i took part on the tournament after getting Salty title was that i wanted all the heirlooms and other items available.
What is the achievement? I am sure I won that competition once back in the day but for the life of me can’t find it on the armory. I’m probably being blind.
