I think there’s a line somewhere. I see a lot of people who get annoyed or angry and, as a result, just try harder and get more obsessed with whatever upset them. Kind of like getting tilted in competitive games.
I agree with you that I’m more likely to think “why bother” and go and play a different game than to double down on trying to have fun in WoW. For me it’s not so much about what random players do, but the social tensions in my group of WoW friends as the new season is looming. Everyone is more “crispy”, more touchy.
could not care less just like other people i will fish where the pool is regardless if there is anyone else fishing.

When the fishing derby is up it’s any man for himself. Most people will fish in the same pools because we are all trying to use the limited resources at the same time.
Outside of the fishing derby there is no rush for any pools and most will just carry on to find the next.

Been playing since vanilla and never heard of this. I have always seen players join pools and I do not see why the should not. Just because you got there a few seconds before someone else doesn’t not make it your pool. You are just being greedy if you think you can claim a fishing pool.

it’s not really a matter of claiming or making something your own and it’s interesting that you think I’m being greedy to ask for some personal space to enjoy a moment in game.
For the same reason that most people on a public bus would prefer to sit by themselves with the seat beside them empty. They have no right to that but most people prefer it and for the most part other people let them have it - theres an understanding there. The seat usually only gets taken when the bus gets busier.
Same thing - just give me space to do my own thing - plenty more pools about so why invade the one im at.
Its fair enough i guess if you don’t care about what other people want and its only what you want that matters and the game allows you to do just that.
I guess thats where we differ

An old Salty here and I’ve never felt the need to stop at a pool someone’s line is in already. Not only is it highly inconsiderate but, let’s be honest, it’s also highly inefficient. I’ve seen folk land and throw their line in on top of mine just as I pull out the last fish. “Awww son, ye got nothin for your troubles?”
Refreshing to see some people just don’t realise though. I’ve always worked off the baseline most people who do this are just not nice

I would say its rude and inconsiderate of others when they do it yeah.
I would never do it myself.
the chances that its a new/returning player who just assumes fishing pools work the same way herbs and ores work is way higher than the chance that its someone who knows how inefficient it is to land at a pool someone else has already tapped and drained an unknown number of fish from already.
you could tell them if it bothers you, but imo fish are so plentiful that its not worth even typing to them about - they will learn it via trial and error unless they’re not playing with a full deck of cards.

I always leave if a node is taken but often they then later join one I am fishing in xD, but I dont care, plenty of fish around for everyone…
Yeah it can be hit or miss if people leave you alone to fish, I always leave them and go to next one, they tend to do the same but not always /shrugs
Its like when your fighting a mob right next to a mining node and someone rides up and nicks it
I always ask, takes like 2 secs to type “miner?”
I have always given people space.
Today doing the derby though, O! M! G!
Every pool I found I shoot you not I had 5 more people swoop in. Very frequently I never even got a fish out of it due to the law of RNG dictating I had to wait 25 seconds for my lure to bob while they got a hit within the first couple of seconds.
And While I always had some kind of etiquette and left people with the pool they found, I very quickly did what they did. I mean sod it.
While we are on the subject, what on earth is going on with these blood in water pools ?
Glitter and Calm water Galore , glitter for as far as the eye can see.
Very very rarely is there a blood pool, and when you do (and you get to fish it alone)
I get 60-80% Ghoulfish and then a 20% lottery on any fish out there with Slum Shark having around a 2% chance of the 20% (I swear all the common ones have 90% chance out of that 20)
I mean come on.
In those situations - there ain’t no time to be nice - I think everyone gets that. It’s like a brawl . Chaos rules
It’s sod’s law really
You’re right, exactly the same scenario. It’s like you’re invisible.
For me , it’s not about the fish/loot. Its about enjoying a tranquil game moment to myself when as you said there is plenty around.
I guess what all this comes down to is … its just people really.
Some people like to treat others they way they would like to be treated themselves and others just don’t think/care about anyone else. You are who you are I guess.
I do wonder if the latter feels a bit irked at all by people interupting them by fishing their pools despite not caring when they do it to others.
Maybe if open water fishing yielded more fish - this would be less of a thing.

You were lucky enough,i found only 1royal ripple pool and no trophy queen fished (didn’t complete the quest).
When theres Saturday fishing derby they should spawn more said pools from quest.
You NEED to toss a Regal Dottie from them Royal Ripples to get the Queen from that pool, it’s a 100%.
yeah,i found 1 royal ripple, but there was like 5 ppl with me i wasnt lucky enough to hook it xD
Normally, I’d say yes.
During a FOMO-fueled timed quest, I’d say no.
Desperate people do desperate things.
I think Blizzard is to blame here. The whole idea behind that event/quest is deeply flawed within their new approach to WoW content.

I would never fish in a pool that’s already being used. I also expect people not to fish in the pool I’m already fishing it and when it happens I get annoyed. Simply because it’s etiquette that you don’t start fishing if someone’s already there and has been since always in WoW.
Just be a bit considerate towards other players - there are plenty of other pools and it’s nice just to be able to relax a bit without any competition.

Was initially under the impression it was like the Sunday STV fishing tournament… not the case, it’s not a competition… so honestly they need to increase the pool spawn rate and their numbers.

I agree. Or just remove the timer and make the quest be the timer.
