Fix Classic Cataclysm Archeology bad luck

Because it isn’t as necessary as so many of you seem to think it is.

That item drops from the very first boss that you’re likely to kill. You may have to do so with a blue weapon. BIG DEAL.

What’s the point of putting an item in a profession that requires a staggering number of hours to HOPE to acquire it when the first boss gives you an equivalent weapon ?

tell me if I’m wrong but the goal of an mmo is also : investment >> rewarded. I think of these players who spend their days doing something that is not fun at all and who perhaps will not be rewarded for their efforts.

What is your problem to let ppl ask some bad protection luck ? bekoz itz not de orijinal cata ? Do you know what happened to the r14 grind on classic by chance ? yes, they nerfed it because before it was just too much.

If you don’t care, move on !

I don’t know. I see archaeology as a mini-game on the side. Back in the day I never got the vial from Tol’vir, and I don’t feel overly heartbroken about it. I got many other fun items. In general, while the act of digging for items isn’t all that fun on its own, I appreciated it for what it was.

And maybe it’s a nice weapon for people who don’t raid, although I don’t know how many they are in Classic, or what their end game activities are.

If they don’t think it’s fun, then therein lies the problem. It’s that way with many things in WoW. People run battlegrounds, not because it’s fun or because they care overly much about the outcome, but because there’s a reward for doing them. That’s why so many will cry “let them win” at the slightest hint of opposition.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s a bad idea in and of itself. It’s more the reaction to it all that I find amusing. People will sit and grind for hours for something they damn well know has a near 0% drop rate. I’ll admit that it is stupid. The design, that is. But it’s also kinda stupid to go out of your way to get it if you think it is so tedious. Set aside half an hour a day for it or something, and if you get it , then great. If you don’t, well, maybe you got a lot of fun other things.

We have a way of thinking that is totally different. To be honest I don’t want to debate it. I’m just waiting to see if Blizzard will do something or not

It’s just a cosmetic to get a different looking hearthstone.

I also don’t really get why people are so bent out of shape over any of the archealogy epics anyways, you replace them in the first few weeks of raiding in cata anyways.

Because people are trying to farm a stupidly low drop rate item, and are unable to actually reduce the amount of fossil digsites due to the fact that this extremely coveted pet (that probably 2 cata classic players care about) is not attainable, but simultaneously preventing you from getting fewer fossil digsites

Tbh there is a lot of bad things in this design
Should have downed the fossil pet to 450
Should have either set 359 items to 346 with normal rare droprate OR have them 359 with a buffed chance everytime you solve so people don’t have to spend 2 weeks in prepatch digging 10+ h/day without any progress

Like it’s not a secret that everything with 1% or less dropchance in this game is VERY unfair and punishing, but when it’s just mounts or cosmetic it’s less awful than a “core” game mechanic like this

You’re implying that classic players will clear heroic raids first few weeks? For a lot of classes the epics are bis till you get a drop from hc raid bosses and tyrande’s favorite doll is bis throughout the whole first phase for example.
You’re also forgetting the competitive aspect of this game and how many people are playing this game only because of it.

do it at 85 then, there’s no issue with this… I’m still going strong at almost 1300+ solves, its a grind yes, its annoying yes… but it is what it is, just be happy that we can farm it now, and dont have to do all this grind when cata is launched…

The people that defend the originial archeology design have absolute stockholm syndrom.

In my opinion, you play a game to have fun. The gameplay attached to archeology is non existant tho. That means that the only reason you do it are obviously the rewards. Playing a slot machine for 40+ hours just for a chance to get something you want is simply bad game design.

Ppl are willing to the craziest grinds, but at least for stuff like ‘the insane’ title you know how long it will take and see a progression path.

people having to be baby fed everything have absolutely a nice curling mentality, I don’t mind if we do get a BLP system, just don’t cry about how it is in the prepatch, no one is forcing anyone to farm a bug-infested profession.

So crying about a faction thats not completeable till level 525 is completely non relevant.

What does having BLP have to do with beeing baby fed? No one here said they mind that it takes effort to complete something. Archeology isn’t even bugged anymore. It’s working just as it should.

I don’t understand how anyone could be against adding the ability to actually chase the items you want. Espescially when they add competetive advantage.
