this is the new goal, Blizzard devs were setting with this patch.

theres to manny poeple in Silithus for what 1 layer can hanlde, theres like 8 - 10 stealth boys ind every hive, camping notes.
when you finaly find the new large Obsidian ore, theres like 90% you get a Small Obsidian Shard, Essence of Earth or some useless gem. if the game not just “drop a huge toad” on you, failing the mining and you just lost the note to the 3 othere people trying there luck.

there rare, 1 out of 4 herbs have this little “devil” this is not so bad, if not that every new elixir, and it need 2 of them. there like 50 notes in total in Silithus, and like 10 of them is Black Lotus with a heavy 15-30 min respown.
were at a point we have like 4 layers @ prime raid times, and all othere hours we have not seen more then 1 layer outside the 10(48) hour war event. the demand is higher then the suply.
if you really only have os farm this mats in this zone, we need a lot more spownpoints and faster spowns or keep it this rare and lower the crafting cost like 2 Large Obsidian shard for a trinket. and when you can’t elixirs it the same cost and gives you a full stack of 20. as this is, only the no liver or people that bay gold can use this.
we at a point i really don’t like you to tuch Buffs/consumes if this is how much you this is a foresight of how your going to tackle distribusen
There is clearly a huge problem here. And I’m a big time farmer
The problem is about servers population , raid logging and layers.
You have components that appear in only one zone. In Wild growth EU outside of a few hours in the evening there is one layer that is overcrowded in Silithus. Producing X amount of nodes.
In raid time in the evening there are 3 or so layers. So enough people to fill 3 layers that all want those new consumables (because it is the main issue here , consumables , having stuff being pricey and rare for crafts is no big deal).
So we have 3 layers of people consuming and only one layer where people can farm.
The problem comes from here. The servers merged and it caused troubles because everybody is logging at the same time and there are not enough layers to produce enough herbs for everybody to raid.
Saying “get gud” or “you can’t have everything handled to you” while most spots are camped by rogues/druids in stealth is not helping.
I mean I don’t care personally , I stacked gold by the tens of thousands, but I can see why people are in trouble with those prices.
A full raid gets around 6–7 Large Obsidian, and in the open world, they are even more rarer. I’ve farmed for 16 hours in total and only found 2 Large Obsidian.
There’s BiS trinkets, totems, librams, and idols. Some of them require 4 bars, which means 8 Large Obsidian, and the trinket needs 15 bars—that’s a total of 30 Large Obsidian.
At this rate, these items will be rarer than the ZG Tiger by the time Naxx is out.
When elixirs cost the same as a Flask, I really don’t understand why people can’t see the high demand. We’re going to be forced into farming this tiny zone for a long time. Flasks, I understand—they last longer, and you don’t Lisa it when you die, and Black Lotus has a lot more farming spots and ways to be obtained.
It’s funny how everyone I see with your opinions always plays on an all-or-nothing SOD toon.
So excuse me if we seriously question whether you even understand what you’re commenting on.
The character I’m posting on clearly isn’t a SoD character, it’s a character I’ve had on live since WoTLK. I’ve played ever version of this game, seem every phase launch in every version of Classic and seen every expansion launch; I know how demand works.
But it’s okay, drop rates on everything were buffed massively; gathering professions can once again be utterly worthless and you’ve no more need to cry. Grats.
If you really knew, you’d probably also understand that the way they’ve chosen to “fix” it isn’t exactly the most optimal, as we’re still stuck in a zone with far too many people for what it can realistically support during the normal times when most people with a life are online.
The only positive is that the prices are dropping on the AH (Auction House), but it doesn’t exactly give great opportunities for farming.
At least, you don’t feel the disappointment when you finally find a large obsidian node.
The price for the large obsidian shards is a third of what it used to be on the realm I play. It’s not quite cheap yet, but if that’s the result after two weeks it’s going to go down further still.
If you’ve played SoD for a while you should probably have a stash of gold piling up from bullying all the dragons for their treasure hoard.
I could have spent ~7k myself for a nice shiny trinket right as AQ launched but I decided against it, my character didn’t die and my casual guild didn’t kick me.
Now if you are a cutting edge player looking to have legendary parses I guess you will have to fork up a lot of gold to use every one of the latest consumables. It’s been always like this at the start of a new phase/patch/expansion when new resources come into play.

theres NEVER more then 1 layer, when people are not raiding.
there will only be layers, if over X number of people are on the server.
so some zones can have way to manny people, but no layers.

yir the price is lower as it need to be, befor it was 700-1000 per bar, it still 80-120g, ofc it going to drop more as it shut.
i really can’t get how your fine with a trinket cost 15000+ in ror mats, in a seasion version of Classic plus. after the nerf it still a 2500+ trinket, imo it still to high a cost. normal people can farm like 80 - 120g per hour, so farming for 20hours+ is not a bit to hardcore i don’t know what is.
We’re on the same realm genius, there were 4 layers yesterday.
I’m sat in Silithus right now, it’s practically empty. Learn your way around the map and you’ll find better farming spots; Hive Zora is usually the least active; you’re welcome.
Obsidian chunks aren’t new, the new recipes are. The obsidian chunks themselves used to be AQ only.
No, it isn’t. 2.5k for a BiS trinket isn’t too much at all.
Normal people had the opportunity to farm mats and sell them, they had the opportunity to receive the rare mats from lootboxes for big money; not any more.
