i was leveling my alt ( level 79) it send me to a dung which all mobs was greed which is mean 0 xp for me and way less xp for everyone else in that run . so i leaved it and i got 30 min deserter …
I am lvl 72 and getting zero exp for lvl 70 mobs (see my post: Why am i getting close to zero exp in utgarde keep?)
I mean, the levels are sometimes nonsense. There are two dungeons with these loevel requirements:
D1: 32-40
D2: 33-42
You are level 33, guess for which dungeon you can queue and for which you cant.
For D1: you are too low level, but yfor D2 you can queue.
Makes sense, right?
There is this thing called level scaling which is implemented for 3 datadisks in retail but blizzard cba implementing this in classic. They don’t care about the game anymore, accept it.
it’s intended to be like this and it sucks big time, if not for the exp, you just get sick going in the same instance again and again, in each expansion we are missing on the higher lvl dungeons so the lower level players can form group easier.
queue directly, get quests done, they ain’t fixing anything
Well. The revamped the leveling in Shadowlands, so “eventually” they will fix it xD
I wouldn’t say I would receive 0 xp for killing green mobs.
Why? Because my warrior recieves victory rush everytime she kills a mob that is green to her (and victory rush only procs everytime you kill mob or player that gives you xp or honor) so I call BS on your claim of getting 0 XP.
Also RDF never groups you with players, who would receive reduced amount of XP. That’s why you can’t que to deadmines at lvl 79 or any dungeon, intended for around 7-8 levels lower than you are.
it’s probably only you who did not take “zero” figuratively. doing the first dungeon of each expansion when you are 1-2 levels from reaching the level cap of that expansion it sure does feel like zero xp, since you are up to 9 levels higher than the mobs.
and even on a “5 lvl” expansion like cata, a throne of the tides run feels like zero exp when you are 84
It always feels like it, be it a dungeon of your level or 5 levels below you.
XP from killing mobs is miniscule even if you get max xp rates, which is why it is pointless to cry over small xp rates (especially if you have to wait to be qued in dungeons in first place). Having heirlooms and completeing quests in dungeons that makes things faster.
With your logic, it makes no sense to que for random dungeons at all untill you’re lvl 85 and instead que for specific dungeons instead, oh wait, that would mean you loose bonus XP reward which is there to compensate the fact you might have to kill mobs 5 levels lower than you are
after 7 random dungeons within the same week the bonus xp from random lfd at level 84 is what 57-60k? it does not compensate for killing lvl 80 mobs, it’s basically the same exp as 1 quest at twilight highlands, so yeah no sense throwing elevator prayers for half a bar (and it’s still half a bar or less even with a 100k bonus), which is why it’s instant leave for me at 83-84.
personally i enter dungeons for the quests mostly and rarely when i want a “change of scenery”, that’s how it was, that’s how it’ll stay, it still sucks
This is actually not true. There are dungeons that you can queue up for and get through random dungeon finder that will significantly reduce the amount of experience you and your group will get. I believe this has to do with an anti-boost mechanic that was introduced years ago before RDF, and that hasn’t been removed since for unknown reasons. The best examples of this is getting dungeons like Utgarde Keep at level 79 (which seems to happen unnecessarily often). A good deal of mobs will be level 69-70, which will barely give you any experience as level 79, if any at all. It will also reduce the amount of experience the rest of the group is getting, due to how the anti-boost mechanic works. So as a level 79, your mere presence in the group is actually griefing the rest.
It also seems like this is exactly what happened to the OP.
yes it dose i remember i was level 79 and it group me up with pepole who 69-71 + in UK wotlk dung … i just see the first afew mobs were gray not even green ! and after i see other pepole also complaining i just leaved it . i got 30 min deserter but atleast 4 other pepole probbly got better xp
In wotlk, I got to signing up only for specific dungeons. Since each dungeon is almost a full level of exp if you do the quests, that works out fine to do one of them each level, one after another. The 12 jp for random are not worth the risk to land in UK at 78+.
Odd. I just cleared UK on my lvl 70 shaman with lvl 79 DK tank and got 2-4K xp per kill from the mobs without any heirlooms and having rested XP bonus.
Guess mine game client was bugged then
I can confirm this interaction is still a thing btw. Just did UK on my level 70 toon that I’m leveling during JJ. Queued into x2 lvl 79, and with JJ, full looms, guild xp buff etc I got 50-200 xp per mob kill. An entire clear gave me less than a bar worth of xp from mob kills. For comparison, a regular lvl 70 mob kill in open world gives me about 2k xp.
So ye, it’s still worth since I got half a lvl from quests and the RDF completion reward, but in a working game this shouldn’t be a thing imo.
Edit: Just finished Nexus, group consisted of players between 71-76. Got about 2.5k xp per mob, which resulted in about 7 bars of xp from mob kills. So queueing into a lvl 79 in UK basically means you lose out on 30% of a lvl worth of xp (cba doing the exact maths but ye somewhere along those lines).
