It should never take 8 “yellow” items to gain a skill point. That should only happen with “green” items, ie closer to next tier.
orange 100% chance of skill up
Yellow 75-26% skill up
Green 25% skill up
If I dont remember it wrong someone managed to do calculations on it and it depends on how close it is to turning green how high chance a yellow item have to give you a skill up

Allow me to clarify then. You were provided a source of data, which you refused to acknowledge for personal reasons. You rejected data without observing it. How can you know if it’s legitimate or not if you don’t look at the data provided? For this reason I said you weren’t very statistical.

Because it comes from a poor source. The same way you would have a paper rejected at uni for citing wikipedia.

If you have ever leveled up first aid (atleast in classic they might have fixed the problems with leveling first aid later on before removing first aid) you would most likley have observed something simular to what that person on reddit actually puts forwards, and seeing as blizzard never have given us any offical statements on how high the chances are other than for orange and gray crafting there is no way of knowing for sure, personal experience from having leveled first aid on multipel characters and becoue of that having to have done a lot of yellow and even green crafting sometimes it seems that the closer a thing comes to turning green the lower its chances of gaining a skill up while I dont have any data for it my self I provided you a link to a person who have atleast done some experimenting with it and therfor have more proof and data than you have provided in your rebutal to what I said.
Fair point, but wouldn’t you want to be better than them? To be more credible by looking at all the data provided? The data you gather in the end would be better in the end and you can even cite sources you rejected.
