Since pre patch was released in Wrath Classic in some places and not always I’m experiencing flickering/flashing. This can bee seen on walls or roofs for example. Best place to see that is Trade District in SW but can happend anywhere. I’m preety sure it’s related with shadows becouse when I set Shadow Quality to low flickering immediately stops. Setting DX to DX11 legacy also works.
I have to mention also this is happening only in Wrath Classic. Retail and Classic is free from that.
I have two cards 2070 SUPER and 3070 Ti. Latest drivers 517.48. Tested both cards and flickering happends on both. Also, tested previous drivers - 516.94 and 516.59 same result.
I have seen on Twitch people with same problem. I am wondering does any more experiencing that and does Blizzard knows about it?
It is called “Z-Buffer Fighting”, and it is well known issue in video game graphics since… forever. Unfortunately, there is no solution to this other than turning down the shadows.
I am experiencing this same issue, i have a 3090 and even turning the shadows the the lowest settings doesn’t fix it for me but if i switch from DX12 to DX11 Legacy seems to solve the issue.
It would be great if Blizzard would take a look at this.
Did you try to reset the settings to default or reset UI?
Full UI reset doesn’t work. The only way to stop it is set Shadow Quality to low or use DX11 Legacy. I would also like to know does Blizzard know about it?
I have found on Reddit a thread about it and there is a video how this exactly looks like.
