I’ve got untypical question. Is it necessary to visit a flight point to unlock it ?
I’m asking cause I’ve got this situation - I quested in Stranglethorn, finished questline, took quest to Western Plaguelands, quested there - then moved to Eastern Plaguelands and finished questline there.
And than I noticed that I got unlocked New Kargath in Badlands flight point even though I’ve never been to Badlands. Same for Hammerall in arathi and Hiri’Watha in Hinterlands… Any ideas why ? Thx
There is a Heirloom item that teaches you one flight point in each zone …aaahh, here:

Hi! No I don’t have this toy. I only quested in Stranglethorn, Western and Eastern Plaguelands… When i first flew to Grom’gol to quest in Stranglethorn, New Kargath wasn’t possible as flight point, but somewhere during questinng in Western or maybe even Eastern Plaguelands, New Kargath was an option… I plan to level next char and check this again…

Characters do need to visit a flight path to “learn” them first for use later. Boosted characters will have some flight paths unlocked automatically too. 
Hi! Thx for quick response :). I’ll check on my own, cause I’m pretty sure I did not visit New Kargath or unlock flight point there, yet still I get flight point after questing or getting higher level… I read about - "New characters in [Azeroth] automatically know their [capital] flight path, their starting zone flight paths, and flight paths to the adjacent low level questing zone" I’m not sure how to understand this. Do I know flight paths to Northren Barrens when starting in Durotar ? And what about Allied races - they are starting form lvl 20. Do they know flight paths to adjacent low level questing zones ?
Hmm… On my Vulpera char around lvl 45- during flight by flight master form Grom’gol to Undercity - something strange happened. My flight discovered map that was undiscovered - when I was flying over Loch Modan - I discovered Loch Modan, when flying over Hammerfall - discovered map around Hammerfall… is that a bug ? Or it can happen on character in certain circumstances ? And maybe that’s why I unlocked these Flight Points ? Now I tried fly from Tarren Mill to Grom’gol on my Highmountain warr char and map was not revealed, nor flight points ? Why ? Thx, for any help or explanation
Ok - I figured it out - taking quest The Battle for Andorhal from Arcanist Arman and goinf through portal to Western Plaguelands, unlocks some flight points - Hammerfall, Hiri’watha Research Station and New Kargath :). And some flights from NPCs like rocket ride from Light’s Hope Chapel to Badlands can explore map and deliver exp
