Flying in shadowlands and the previous expansion

Hi there Blizzard, question: i presume there are a lot of players like me who occasionally return to wow. Isn’t it a good idea to make flying possible for those people who are level 60, so they have seen the maps, i believe it was your idea to let people look at the beauty from the maps before they should fly. Fot instance me i like to play and make all my characters level 60 again, and i admit flying makes that easier and more playable. I would be willing to pay for the right of my level 60 character to buy that right in the store as a form of expansion. The time necessary to play and try to get the flight status is for some people not optional, it spoiled the fun in the game for the not so fanatic players. Would you be considering that option for people who are level 60 and thus seen all the maps from below? Would like to see it from above, but not after months of playtime… am i the only one who think like this?

The only req for flying now is level 30 (I believe, maybe you need to buy a licence for 1000g not sure).
They’ve allowed Flying in WoD and Legion for some time now without the achievement that used to be required. You can still earn the achievement for a free mount if you want.
Pre-WoD never had such an achievement.

BFA still needs the achievement I think. But BFA zones aren’t so bad to get around.

Shadowlands just needs you to reach a certain chapter in the campaign, so just playing the game will unlock it.

Flying in SL is tied to story content, the first few chapters of 9.1 story iirc. No rep requirement, no grind just a short questline and you’ll get a free mount too.

Unlocking flying in Shadowlands is about 15 minutes: you do the 9.1 campaign to unlock Korthia, and you can fly in the 4 covenant zones. Don’t even need to complete the 9.0 campaign for it, and doesn’t require high renown either.

Think you forget the 40 reowns you need, if i play with my level 60 mage as a not high geared character i have a 1000 deads, it’s frustrating the time that takes. I don’t mind questing. I played from the very beginning and stopped for years. Now the fun is out for me, and propably others too…

40 renown is trivial, you can pretty much reach most of it in Torghast, or random heroics, don’t need much gear for it. You can deck yourself out into ~170-ish gear from 9.0 blues, or 200 from Korthian Armanents, and that’s more than enough to propel you to 40 renown in short order. You also need to do it on a single character, so just take your best geared / highest renown one, and problem solved.

9.0 lasted so very long, that if you completed one weekly every second week, you’d still be renown 40. If you completed the covenant storyline, you’re pretty much very near 40 renown, and from that point onwards, it’s 3 chapters of the 9.1 campaign. An hour at most on an undergeared character.

Not so familiar with the things you mention whats 9.0? thanks for the answer

There’s catch up mechanics in place for Renown. Which lets you get Renown by doing lots of different stuff… Daily callings, dungeon bosses, world bosses, etc etc.
So yeah; 40 is pretty easy and fast. And you’d only have to do it once and then your alts will all have flying.

Getting flying in SL is not « only 15 min » doing chapters 1 2 3 and 4 alone (after getting to 40) takes much longer (1 hour 2 hours ? More ?) especially if attempted with an ungeared character.

So whether or not you agree with OP please do not use blatantly false facts to counter him

15 minutes? Took me half a day haha. Didnt have the renown for it etc. Overall it was pretty OK to unlock though, 500 times easier than in BFA…

Yeah, I was assuming one has the renown at least on one character. It’s a bit longer than that if one doesn’t. Still way easier than any of the Pathfinders of past expansions.

To me the problem isn’t how long it takes to unlock flying but rather the fact that you only unlock it after the zones have expired and we move on to new patch. Why can’t we unlock it when it’s current content, like now in Korthia or the Maw? I have done all there is 100 times over. Just let me fly there godamnit.
