Flying in shadowlands

Hello !
As we know flying is coming in the first major patch is Shadowlands probably in 9.1. I know that it will be Renown gated and you have to progress throught your Covenant campain to reach the nesecerry Renown for flying.
My question is - Do we have to progress through our Covenant campain of all of our alts in order to unlock flying or once we unlock it on one characher it is account bound. Since we know that we will need high level on Renown it will be pain to unlock it on all alts, I personally have 6.
Also at the moment i don’t have SL, but i am going to buy it soon.Another question- How do we actually progress that Renown, i v seen videos in YT, that you have only to do weekly quests like 1 or 2, Is that all or you have to do something else?
Thank you !

It’s been account-bound since Pathfinder was introduced so it’s guaranteed to be again, no worries there.

You get 2 weekly quests, one to gather 1000 anima and one to rescue 5 souls from the maw. Getting those two usually unlocks another covenant chapter to quest through, and finishing that chapter gives another renown level. So 3 renown a week without catchup.

I don’t see any confirmation from Blizzard that it will be account wide which worries me the most, since so far renown progression is definitely per char based.

Looking at how the whole “be able to fly” implementation since WoD till BFA. I do believe there are options on the table for Blizzard trying to make flying per char based on their covenant progression. Or something like player will need to reach certain level for all covenants for account wide flying.

From all the lies Ion has told, I think that is why he keeps saying SL is alt friendly in the interviews to try to sell player the idea with “catch-up” mechs and such.

That’s like saying the old expansions required the full pathfinder on every character to fly. You only needed loremaster/exploration/rep on one character. They won’t change that.

I personally wholeheartedly hope they will not, because flying would make leveling my alts a lot more fun.

Totally, not having flying would probably put me off alts altogether.
The reason I chose Ardenweld as my covenant is because this was the zone I found least annoying to navigate. I figured I’d get flying by doing this zone then do my alts with flying in the other zones.

There has been catchup since week 2 of the expac. If you are behind on Renown, you can get it from dungeons, raid bosses and callings until you are caught up with the current cap. Characters levelled with Threads of Fate also get Renown from their four fill-the-bar zone quests.

I don’t really care about the herbs , also i am a mage main. I don’t beg for flying,i only ask if it is account bound or not.Anyway i would adapt.I know players who have over 10 alts, imagine to force progressing on all of them just for flying(which is extremly important) Personally if flying is not account bound i won’t even level my alts to 60 and will only play one characher.
There is nothig with the herbs or mines or whatever.
Thanks for understanding

well, skygolems exist though? they act just like druid flight forms.

if they make flying character based i ll barf and probably just quit the game entirely. this is definitely something that would push me over the edge.

He’s not ‘begging’ for anything, simply asking a question. Might be a returning player and this is his first expac since Pathfinder was introduced.

I really don’t get people getting triggered so much by even the mention of druids existing. You know mounted herbing is available to anyone, right? It’s called a Sky Golem and there’s even an argument for it being better than Travel Form because Travel Form switches you to Aquatic Form when you touch water. If you happened to be in combat with mobs chasing you, after you get out of the water and switch back to Travel Form, you lose your mount speed until you leave combat, which is not the case with a traditional mount.

Also, in Legion and BfA anyone could buy stirrups and be strictly better than druids because you could mine without dismounting as well and even mine without landing. There’s no stirrups in Shadowlands, I really miss them for my miner. My guess is that it wasn’t popular, Blizzard saw only a miniscule amount of people used them and threw them out. I guess people like you were too busy being rightously indignant about a druid to think about it for one second and consider the option.
