In M+ and LFR (is what I have been playing) I don’t understand this rotation. There are always 2 FoF waiting to be casted, and I am suppose to use other abilities as well. Like casting Flurry and Frostbolt.
Flurry > Ice Lance > Ice Lance rotation is wasted because of FoF procs, it should be used when I don’t have FoF.
In LFR there was another frost mage with same talent spec as me and his 2nd highest damage was Frostbolt. Mine did like 8% of my total damage. I don’t understand. Frostbolt is a filler to me, I have hardly any use for it because of FoF build, especially because of using Frozen Orb and Icy Veins.
I am no expert but from what I have been told and simmed you should almost always cast frostbolt immediately before casting flurry (single target). This person explains it:
It feels like a loss of dps because of the cast time but I actually did gain more dps
When in doubt, just remember:
Frostbolt, flurry, ice lance, ice lance
But what about FoF? Don’t I have to cast Ice Lance before doing Frostbolt > Flurry > Ice Lance > Ice Lance?
If so, that is my point, because FoF procs all the time.
Think of it like a priority list, the Frostbolt > Flurry > Ice Lance > Ice Lance combo takes priority over casting ice lances with FoF. Ideally you don’t want to have FoF procs and flurry’s winter’s chill effect at the same time but most of the time you have no control over that.
