This folder keeps appearing there and I got a feeling it does not belong there. Within the folder is a folder with a random long hexstring, within that folder is nothing. The folder takes up 0kb’s, has no hidden system files and comes back every couple of days. There is also a folder called GPUcache in the root which I don’t recall seeing before but could be wrong.
Bit of googling only gets me so far. I ran a scan all my 3 drives, my HDD has nothing similar. My OS drive has it in 3locations all within appdata: One for discord, one for battle.net browser cache, one for steam browser cache.
My 3rd drive, which is my Gaming SSD only in the classic folder, I ran a few system scans and I don’t believe I have a virus or malware.
Any suggestions on what could be creating this folder be welcome.
edit: Ok I figured out what creates it: If I open the ingame support window, it creates this folder. Guessing it is used for cache purposes? What confuses me is, why does this not autodelete itself after?

The ingame help window when you select the Support section uses it’s own browser, so this would just be the equivalent to a Browser Cache that the Support section uses when you open it again to help speed up your browsing.
My other thought here is that this is likely because Vanilla WoW didn’t have the new Support/Help section back in the day, so the folder is likely a compromise so that it works with the old Interface :). Speculation on my part there, but I managed to test it myself on my client and the folder is created after I open the Help/Support, so it must be related to that.
GPUCache folder is perfectly normal too, I have one myself :), don’t delete it as that seems to be some files the game uses to run.

Appreciate the response, was a bit worried I had some shady tracking malware for a moment!
Malware is somewhat unlikely here, but oddly enough it seems that folders named “blob_storage” can be created (in apparently utterly random locations) by applications like Adobe Reader or Microsoft Azure.
Since the ingame help system essentially is a mini-browser I’m wondering if there are any browser-plugins that accidentally get activated here.

I tried it on two other systems and both had it, one even was a fresh install. So it’s definitely something the client is doing.
