Follower Dungeon changes

Increased XP in dungeons and the amount you can enter.

It would need to be quite a big increase to make it a viable route for leveling alts.
I did them all on this character to do all the quests and to see them.
Haven’t bothered on my lower level alts as I read the xp was really low.

I noticed that too. I presume they’ve had enough data back and it’s not game breaking for those who want to do the whole solo thing. It’s good news!!!

I never did any of them so I’m curious: how long does one take compared with a normal group of heirloomed people leveling in DF?

Happy about the cap change. Don’t care about the experience.

From a levelling point of view it’s faster with other players. The NPCs are slow because they are just bots. They are useless at skips or playing the fastest route.

If you want a nice chilled solo experience being able to meander about as you please, then they are great.

I did one while leveling, around 65 or so, and it was slow. Compared to playing with a group of heirloom-geared players, I’d say it took about five times longer. The NPCs partially behave realistically insofar that the DPS ignore some of the mechanics (not walking out of the fire in RLP for example) and stay so far apart and behind corners out of line of sight so you can’t AoE heal them easily. The tank NPC is great, though. It skips groups, picks up additionally pulled mobs, waits for you, and is really sturdy.

I think for learning rotations or memorizing keybinds, learning a dungeon layout, or just for getting the hang of playing a spec, these follower dungeons are great. They are also good for getting dungeon quests done, especially if you play in the off hours. But if the objective is to level quickly, every other option (regular queuing and questing) is better.

This change removes the -20% XP penalty (if you play with 4 NPCs), but you still don’t get the end-of-dungeon bonus XP from follower dungeons, in addition to them taking much longer.

Soo still not too much use for them aside for players who, for some reason, dislike playing with other people in an mmo and need to do a quest there. Thanks for clarifying!

Essentially, yes. But for practicing, they are really not bad, largely because they are slower. If you queue as a healer for a proper dungeon with people, you either occasionally cast a fast heal or a HoT, or you don’t need to heal at all. Healing a follower dungeon is closer to healing a M+ than healing a leveling dungeon with other players is. It’s still very different of course, but you get a chance to use more of your toolkit and get to see more mechanics. I could see these dungeons helping players who are reluctant to try out healing or tanking.

The best use of follower dungeons for max level players is that the mage NPC provides a table! You get in instantly, grab the food, and leave again.

I am pretty happy about this. I was never going to farm them, though.

It definitely is. A player group is maybe 50%-100% faster, BUT … zero queue time, which can make the whole thing faster, especially in off-hours.

Tbf, I would say thats a bit narrow. I’ve been playing since Legion, and lvled way more alts than anyone should realistically do… The issue with normal dungeons is, that veteran players just see them as easy exp and want to min max fast route it, and if you are too slow, some even start trying to kick people for “low dps” or “lol noob”… We see it also with TW dungeons, people just fly through and don’t care whether you died and are not at the next boss… So learning your class, the game, mechanics etc. is super hard for new players.

I think the issue is, seeing the follower dungeons as you off-put it… It shouldn’t imo be for players that are looking for an easier and faster lvling experience without having to interact… I think its a very nice addition to people that for some reason just want to chill and or learn their class, be it hard casting pyro blast until they figure out that they can get it to proc instead etc.

Why should it be “much use” for people that want to zoom through content?

Valid point, I admit my previous statement was a tad too narrow

Elitist I would argue.
There are many reasons players can’t do grouped content, you don’t need to look down your nose at them.

… after the dungeon is done and you want to finish off some crafting the followers hang around with you :grinning:

Relax, I already said the other dude was right. No need for your comment.

Basically, they realized that people are not dying to play these dungeons and there will be no server overload so they pretty much lifted the restrictions  The “50” limit is probably just to prevent botting.

It shouldnt be a viable way for leveling. It should be a way for people to finish quests wich require dungeon groups and to see the place.

In the end the group dungeons should be the normal way to do it and giving the nice xp to level up properly. I mean come on its an mmo rpg. Dungeons are meant to done in groups

Unless they make special single player dungeons based around the follower system its basicly just sight seeing like lfr

I used the followers for my legendary quest. All of them healed me that could while I stood in the entrance to Academy activating the quest where I have to survive attuning.

Aww if only you’d asked I would have healed you. Still owe you one for that mount!
