Follower dungeons are a great addition to WoW. People often suggest them as a place to practice and learn mechanics or get comfortable with your class. But as a training tool, they have some big flaws
- Tanks: You can control the pulls, which is awesome for learning how to manage damage, positioning, and cooldowns. Ok for getting a feel for your class
- DPS: You get to use your rotation, but most things die so quickly there’s no real danger. For basic practice, it’s fine, but there’s rarely any pressure or challenge
- Healers: This is where it falls apart. As a healer, follower dungeons are brainless.NPCs cast heals, interrupt, and dispel the second something happens, leaving us with nothing to do. We end up being a weak DPS, not learning healing
My Request: Let Healers Heal!
- Stop having NPCs hardcast heals as soon as they take damage
- Let them take real damage so we actually have something to heal
- Slow down their interrupts and dispels so healers can react to them too
Edit:
I’m currently trying to get a feel for Preservation Evoker before heading into real dungeons. I don’t want to waste others’ time learning the basics and risk causing wipes. But in follower dungeons, it’s impossible to do anything useful.
If I deal damage, mobs die instantly, making the experience even more pointless. I end up sitting idly, trying to snipe any incoming damage, only for the NPCs (DPS or Tank) to hardcast their own heals anyway.
