FORCED Cinematics?

In one cinematic, it took a long time pressing ESC and all kinds of other things until it finally let me ‘cancel the cinematic’ (hardly ‘cancelling’ when it has been running for a long time already).

The next time, NOTHING worked!

What is this?

Previously, pressing ESC IMMEDIATELY gave the ‘Do you want to cancel this cinematic’, now it doesn’t even work anymore. I expected this from a japanese corporation that starts with “N” and has an italian mascot, but never from Blizzard!

Let us choose whether we want to waste our time and money on these cinematics - besides, I have already seen the particular ones I tried to escape, why would you force someone to watch something more than once anyway??

Just let us cancel the ‘cinematics’, please!

Are you sure you don’t have an addon running that are interfering with it? At least I can still cancel cinematics as usual.

That’s a you problem not a blizzard problem.

unless it is on draenor(there are a few there i simply can’t skip introducing the warlords among other things), then it is a you problem or an addon problem so try disable them if it is so much of a problem.

Companies spend lot of resources in making cinematics…

Player base : WHERE IS MY ESC BUTTON

Throne of Thunder has one cinematic that can’t be skipped, even if you get the option to do so.

You can skip it by jumping down on the right side instead of going on the bridge. Even if the fall kills you then you spawn down there so no cutscene

I was thinking the same thing, if we are talking about the cinematic in Throne of Thunder

The most triggering thing of all

People complain about the most amazing things.

When i think i have seen it all from the whine crew…

Yes, looks like it. For example, about ‘people complaining about things’.

I wasn’t complaining, I was simply wanting to know how to do a certain thing (that I still can’t do). This game forces you to watch things instead of letting a paying customer choose whether to waste (valuable and expensive) time watching things they have either already seen or have no interest in seeing.

If I wasn’t paying for the game, it would possibly make sense that a ‘corporation makes lots of useless crap no one wants to see and force it down players’ throats, and players only want to be able to PLAY a GAME instead of WATCH it’.

Also, I don’t need to search for the ESC key (not a button, a KEY), I know where it is. The problem is, it doesn’t work anymore for stopping these timewasters I did not ask for.

The players never asked a corporation to waste their money and artists’ time to create these gamestoppers, nothing forced is good in my opinion.

Also, when you start new chars, and you have watched the intros once, why would you need, want or be forced to watch them again and again and again? Would you like to hear the same joke 200 times without a choice to stop hearing it?

I can’t understand your toxic responses. All I did was ask a question. Your responses are hostile, toxic, and basically try to shame and insult me for no reason.

Does anyone think it’s completely unreasonable to want to customize a player’s playing experience to their liking, especially since they’re a paying customer? Should a paying customer just kindly take something that’s forced upon them, is this the best attitude for a free individual that only wants to play, not watch?

I don’t mind if people like those cutscenes or want to watch them. Heck, I watch some of them sometimes and can even enjoy them. I just wanted to know how to skip them.

Is the consensus here really that we HAVE to admire anything any corporation creates, just because it took a lot of money, time and effort, and we are absolutely not allowed to criticize or want to avoid or ignore it, if we want to rather focus on something else? Unbelievable that people are saying things like this.

Not only forced cutscenes, but forced worshipping of them, eh?

Can you honestly not imagine situations where you want to skip cutscenes? Maybe:

  • You are in a hurry
  • You have already seen it once
  • You have already seen it multiple times
  • You are focused on a specific task in the game and don’t want to be stopped every 5 seconds to watch something that has nothing to do with that task
  • You can imagine good stories, so you don’t need to watch them
  • You want to PLAY a game instead of watching it
  • You have read good books, watched good movies, have created your own stories, so you don’t need to become a passive consumer of other people’s stories when you’re trying to do something interactive
  • You’re not in the mood
  • It’s not that kind of a day
  • Server shutdown gives you very little time to begin with, and now you have to waste some of the time watching something you didn’t ask for or want
  • ETC.

Why is asking a question considered whining, but you complaining about my alleged whining is not considered whining?

Again, just asking a question… I don’t get why people have to be so toxic when they respond. Couldn’t you just have told me how it’s done, or have some sympathy for a fellow player instead of a corporation (or even both)?

Why do you feel the need to attack and insults just because someone asks a question?

That Addon idea was a good one, thanks for that. But all these other responses are like trying to put me into some kind of behavioural mold, where I am not allowed to ask questions. Come on. Seems like it really IS triggering for you people, when someone asks a question.

Next time, consider trying to be friendly instead of poisonous, ok?

Considering you have just spend so much time writing the above we can conclude your time is worthless so please just watch the cinematic and be quiet. You want to skip a couple of seconds but you spend minutes going on a forum to whine. Please think a bit more about your action as they make no sense whatsoever.

Imagine people complaining about forced cinematics and fact they can cancel them in 3s instead of 1s. This community become seriously pathetic. You cant even called yourself gamer with such attitude.

Thanks for the only civil reply.

You can cancel the cinematic after 1 second.
If you couldnt, i would understand the complain but you do.

1 single second and you can skip it if it bother you that much.

Forgot one more scenario; what if you are in a dungeon, raid, mythic or such, and there’s a cutscene (I know, it’s insane, but it happens), or you’re helping some other player or whatnot, and you just need to quickly press ESC, because everyone does, so you can continue.

But I will now be the only one that will ‘freeze’ for a long time, while everyone else goes on, and will probably kick me from the instance/group, so basically Blizz has made sure I can’t even do dungeons. Thanks.

(Yes, the problem still persists, and nothing helps. If It’s an addon conflict, I don’t know which addon it is, and it’s kinda hard to test, because you can’t just summon a cinematic every time you want. I wonder if should make a ticket about this.)

have you tried disabling your addons already? It’s usually the first thing to do when you have an issue.
