I love the huge fiery red and black Protection Warrior shield hidden artifact appearance. It goes spectacularly well with the Iron Soldiers Saber. That was my perfect 'mog.
I had it all through Legion.
I had it through MOST of the BfA beta.
Then something terrible, pointless, and inexplicable happened: when Legion Artifacts were added to their own tab you could no longer decouple main hand (weapon) and shield Legion Artifact appearance. For the love of god, WHY?
In the first half of BfA Beta, the Protection Warrior Artifact main-hand weapons appeared under the appropriate weapon type Transmog window. Legion Artifact shields appeared in the shield tab of the Transmog window. It was perfect and free.
Why was this changed and why can’t you just change it back? Why can’t I use the Burning Plate of the Worldbreaker shield with any main-hand I choose? It sucks for a Warrior to be restricted like this.
This restriction seems utterly pointless, and is especially galling as the system you had in the BfA beta first time was perfect.
WoW has such amazing character customization - but this really seems to be an oversight.
Please change it back.
Further the above, in BfA beta you could also use the Legion Artifact sword appearance (one of the best 1h sword models in the game) with the Burning Plate of the Worldbreaker - so the sword would sheath across my back under the shield - and again this amazing appearance option was removed.
I believe it has something to do with technical limitations, but I agree that this is a problem. It’s the same with Druid artifact forms being bound to the ir weapon which ruins many mogs needlessly.
That makes no sense since (as I said) during the first half of BfA beta you COULD transmog them separately. So obviously it was possible. It only stopped when they introduced the Legion Artifact tab, so that tab seems may be the cause?
Why not just remove the tab and treat the shields and weapons as separate mog skins? It made far more sense to have them in weapons or shield tabs for mog than to force them together like this.
So the “technical limitations” appear to be self-imposed for the sake of a tab - for what? All it does is take away mog options - which for me, these days, is one of the biggest draws to the game…
That new category causes the issues. They had to make that new category or some specs wouldn’t be able to use their artifact transmogs. This was the only way they could make this special case to allow artifacts being mogged into any type of weapon(apart wands), even if you hold items in both weapon slots. And this causes the issue they have to be mogged together as a set in order for this functionality to work.
Was this an official response? I’d like to read it myself - can you proved a reference mate?
If so seems a little lazy to me. The appearances could easily be made cosmetic once earned, surely. Shield found? Cosmetic appearance unlocked! I don’t see why unlocked appearances need to be tied to having to the actual artifact in this way.
The “technical limitation” is probably just the fact that they didn’t think to separate them and now they’re too lazy. Same goes for the druid forms, I mean gosh, we already have the NPC that changes our travel forms.
I believe there was a “Soon TM” type of comment on that matter. It might be de-coupled at some point but no one knows when/if that’ll be. I’d like it to happen too, and soon. Some times, one of the pair is good while the other is awful…
