Forsaken just plain evil in classic?

Im a big fan on wow lore but have never heard or read/experienced anything about the forsaken except for later on and Sylvanas. So I decided to play as a forsaken when I started classic and I discovered that alot of quests are just killing/torturing civilians and attempting to create a plague to kill literally everyone. Is there anything not evil about them?

Good and evil are relative terms.

As a forsaken you have no positive feelings. They can only feel anger or hatred.

They are more like mad scientists who experiment with the plague.

Undead beings have no humanity or morals and the only satisfaction they get is from accomplishing their goals, which seem to be mostly based on vengeance or some other bitter feeling. This is why I get annoyed by people who whine about Sylvanas being a bad guy. She is supposed to be morally bankrupt, she is dead. Just like Arthas, Bolvir, the Forsaken and Death Knights. They don’t feel anything like sympathy or compassion and I don’t think they gain any pleasure from anything like living people. They are just cold and dead and vengeful, like they should be.

I mean, not really, in Before the storm the forsaken feel a lot of joy.

And in before the storm they said “emotions are coming back to Sylvanas Windrunner”

Also with Nathanos calling Sylvanas “my love” as recent as 8.2.5

I was hearing before the storm again this week on audible , and it really did delve into the mindset of characters that the game does not achieve.

So, forsaken were pissed vengefull corpses but then they became more emotional?

What a travesty.

Yes, the Forsaken were always just the Scourge 2.0 but with free will.

“Ugh, look at those happy little farms and people enjoying a sunny day! I HATE IT! KILL/PLAGUE THEM ALL!”

From what I’ve read, they’re more ‘fanatical’ than evil.

In Classic you’re more than likely looking at Undead with a heavy dose of vengeance. However they still possessed free will iirc.

So if they wanted to pet a pooch they could.

In general Undead aren’t what you’d call ‘evil’ more like morally grey.
Take Mograine for example or even Alonsus, they still hold a some what basic respect for life.

But consider that Two out of the other horde races ‘accepted’ you; Being Tauren at first and ofc Then Blood Elf. Rejection is pretty normal to them.

It’s also worth noting that no other horde race could stand the stench in and coming from under city which was produced by all the toxic sludge. So we can assume they have a bad whiff!

Thrall and co’s doubts were arguably understandable but then Orcs were in a very, very similar position which I believe is what the Earthen Ring actually said about the Undead and Orc unity when they were debating the join of Undead to the Horde.

At one time I remember reading about the Undead emissaries telling Thrall Or someone that Shamans possessed the power to cure their undeath, at the time iirc it was just an excuse but

It does beg the question of how far one is willing to go to have a grasp of human life again

Which ain’t true, if one bothers to read some quests.

They simply refuse to allow themselves to feel anything else.

From our point of view they are the evil ones.
