I am seeing some inconsistency with how getting flagged works on the forums, and by extent the post getting hidden.
A) Either takes a while, B) Quickly gets hidden, or C) is straight up removed not getting hidden.
A) Normal flagging
B) Can numerous alts flag a post?
C) Take it a Mod was present. But the post gets removed and you get a notification that said post was flagged by the community, it was never hidden?
Regards to B, I sincerely hope mass flagging by an alt army isn’t possible…
As for C how many flags does it take for a post to get hidden? I’ve had posts removed, not hidden, and got a notice saying the reason. And this has me most curious because I am seeing some bias in the handling of it.
I’ve flagged some nasty people that deserve it, but no action is taken, yet I make some harmless joke the post isn’t hidden but I get a forum vacation..?
If you flag the same post with alts, even if it’s a second account on your bnet, it is against the rules. People are punished for attempting this. I do wish we had proper bnet posting and that kind of thing would mostly be removed.
Removed posts where you receive no punishment are generally where the moderator felt the post was unsuitable but you don’t need any other action beyond that. Other times it’s just part of cleanup removing offending posts and the out of context comments that would have been left behind.
There is no forum mafia coordinating hits on people. Posters do tend to flag rulebreaking posts, or spammy topics etc.
I have observed there are some anti spam measures etc that discourse can delist some posts quickly if certain conditions are met.
Thanks to Twiluna’s forum science we know that it takes five reports to bury a post. This does not mean that post or poster will be punished. Just that no more reports are necessary. A moderator will review the post and take any action (if necessary).
