Nah, the rank 2 group is much bigger. I am sure the rank 3’s want to be part of our cool big group too!

… and Elune knows what i wanted to tell in certain topics about certain people i found acting like ‘special snowflakes’ (read: flat out baiting) and without R3 I would have probably said what i thought of their self appointed sainthood posts , but instead I went and muted the topic as this wouldn’t be worth of my time. I still would love block and ignore feature to the forums.

I guess this self censoring is also one of the goals with the trust. Although it saddens me that it also seems to protect certain behaviour of certain posters, who in my eyes ignore CoC too often, but because they are claiming to “belong” they do not get called out for it. (this is most neutral wording I was able to describe the problem with without having my 1st morning coffee).

This is not Blizzard problem, that’s larger problem of 2019. Where you can bully (or dismiss) people just by claiming certain status.

Yes, this post is also actually very highly self censored to make sure no one has been offended in process.

It didn’t work, your wordings started some thoughts with me :expressionless:

:point_up_2:

This one went right though me…
It had me thinking if I cross the lines too many times, I often give myself a break when I can feel some topics a growing under my skin.

And I get flagged more than I like to, with post that always get deleted

Am I one of those offenders that should step back and think more before pressing reply :disappointed:

I honestly can’t imagine you ever posting anything that would cause offence moothilda :kissing_heart:

We all fall sometimes, me included

Whilst part of me would like this I was also in the thread not that long ago where I found myself in agreement with another poster who up until that point would have quite firmly ended up on my block list. A quick index finger on the scroll wheel helps me most of the time.

I second that!!!

If you swap the word “comment” to “patch” you realize this is how wow works in general. #flying #mywatermountsinks #dudewheresmyportal and so on.
Now i wouldn’t use the r word with anything but i can agree system is less than satisfactory.

I used to have this theory of Moothildas alter ego Doomhilda that writes at night when Moothilda is a sleep and earns the bans for the whole account. It’s the only possible explanation.

There is no need to feel like second class citizen. I think it’s logical and fair that you need to have some better activity, as I heard it’s in matter of how many likes you get and give (30 or so). I mean, somehow people need to know you are trust worthy.

I actually prefer it this way unlike other forums where you just need to have 10 posts or something basic like that and you can share whatever you want.

You, offending anyone ? :open_mouth:

I have been part of debate club IRL - it is art of words of opposites. Unfortunately in modern era, I feel that no one wants to discuss or debate, they want to ‘announce’.

I would love to learn and discuss opposite views, but ask a question without negative connotation, and still someone would see it as an attack. And I think it is because people who see it as attack, do use passive aggressive tactics themselves and thus see monsters anywhere - even where there’s none.

I’ve worked (years-years-years ago) as moderator of a very-very-very large (paid) forums and community and it was funny how my approach of “talk instead kick on 1st offence” made me popular go-to person, who managed to calm down even the known trolls due them respecting me as ‘moderator’.

So community dynamics are result of 2 things - the core posters and members, and the approach and representations of moderators. It is team work to make good and positive community. And yet Blizzard gaming communities are known to be a bit of schizophrenic - a bit touchy from one end (a la lets report someone for smallest of jest), and bit rude form other end (naming and shaming and we can see some really out of line insults every now and then). And all we can ponder why it is so ? Is it just because of games being popular or because ‘crowd control’ not being very well analysed. There’s no Blizzard’s face and aura in forums here (ok, we had one CM on EU here, but now one left job:() - no face and ‘homie’ to represent us. And this generates a bit of wild-wild west approach.

However i must say - removing dislike button was one of the best moves Blizzard did to improve community quality.

I haven’t been part of a debate club, but I was a very angry teenager who picked fights with everyone
I read every controversial topic I could find, so I could find the quickest way to attacked or pissed someone of - have a piece of my mind and live with it :facepunch:

But I find over the years of debating RL and on different forums I prefer to listen more than telling people a piece of my mind.
Of course it doesn’t mean I don’t will or never participate in debates, because I think voicing your concern or your thoughts is very important

So I gladly participate, and also with the hopes of having a neautral tone but still being able to send my opinion to the other end.

Yeah, it’s awesome - the unpredictable part her makes in fun to be part of.

Well if it was up to me, the like button could go as well, I always feel exhausted when I see a post with the sentence You are just sTuPiD get 35 likes :expressionless:

We often hear O’Flanagan say
‘I gave them a piece of my mind’.
Which is why, when so much has been given away
So little remains behind!

I once made a ‘challenge’ I told people that I can get 1000 likes on Facebook when i want to. So I formulated a post. And then waited when to copy paste it. I did post my generic nonsense in Anonymous page - got 1200 likes on 1st hour.

… and this is how like-based culture works. Substance does not matter. Popularity does.

I find ‘likes’ very destructive. For example it impacts people sself esteem. Imagine new and young artist getting 1-2 likes and then see someone worse get 10000s.

… like I had my low self esteem. Got 4 (!) likes of drawing i was so proud of and I wanted to delete all my drawings online. Then got featured of on fanart firday and got 1000s on same doodle. This did remind me that 4 likes didnt mean i was bad, just that the people do not know me.

So yes, for my sake ‘likes’ can take a walk too. Anywhere.

Much wisdom in this :slightly_smiling_face:

I am currently teaching my own kids the same dangers of the like culture - they hate every session I am giving them  but hopefully they can benefit from it
(bought a book made from a study about likes)

Sounds right - I guess my head was cleansed after all of those opinions I gave away

I have needed to council new artists about their self worth and like culture. And even with my own wisdom I still struggle the same issues. I believe facebook was one of the worst invention of our time. It has not brought anything good.

I wouldn’t say that’s true, I’ve spent most of my adult life living hundreds of miles away from my family and home city and Facebook enabled me to keep up to date with close family and share updates on my growing family in ways more than just a phone call now and again so it does have a positive side. Even now I use it to keep in touch with friends who live across the country and some acquaintances I’ve made over the years who it’s nice to see are doing well

Twitter on the other hand I just use for arguments lol

we should have just stayed with myspace… :no_mouth: and yes you are right twitter is far worse than facebook… I got banned on twitter ages ago so not even going to try and get back into that again…

I feel social media makes people actually lonelier and more isolated. And interactions become more shallow by the day.

I am glad to read that there are success stories like your own, how family uses it as tool of keep in touch and communication. However I feel that the impact of the system has been way too large for my taste. be it how it impact individual psyche or entertainment we consume.

There’s nothing really good about it if you’re using it to express opinions, just arguments all over it. I have a Twitter, I don’t use it for personal reasons really, more career minded. I have it linked to my wordpress account and when I post a new blog, a notifcation goes out on the Twitter. Generally I never go beyond that Twitter wise, but if I do it’s to post some quotes I made up.
