I know ! I appealed my last one. Well more like I just wanted to know what I got silenced for, but they never told me. It is very hard to learn from mistakes, if you never learn what they are.

I would never break COC willingly and I try to remain polite on-line as I am off-line, but modern days sometimes you do not even realise you have done most horrible verbal crime known to man kind.

in other words - i agree. You can get silence for whatever-reason without you even knowing for what.

But also I have to be fair and say that Blizz-team is quite ok and quick to get back to you on appeals and they do interact with you instead leaving you aside.

You preaching to the church with this, how you supposed to learn if you dont know? Dont even let you ask about it or who did it? They operate like poltergeists throwing threads out and deleting them too… well it about time we bring in the priest

It should tell you in the email you receive what post got you actioned, it did with the two bans I’ve received. I tried appealing both but got my rear end handed to me by the GMs both times :sob: can’t fault their professionalism though lol

No, it was not on e-mail, nor it was on the enquiry. I have absolutely 0 idea what I did. Since they overturned it and restored also my R3, I was thankful and I did leave it be, but did add to GM survey that they should always let people know the exact post/wording/action they punish people for.

I believe most of us just do a mistake and have no ill intent against anyone. And if we break rules, it be nice to know where we slipped. It is important.

Hmm that’s very odd that the “offending” post wasn’t in the email as it was both times for me so I knew what I was being actioned for.

(Offending is in quotes because I’m presuming you didn’t actually say or do anything that was offensive and or ban worthy)

I never recieved any email either, but I have a very good idea what got me banned since the post got deleted

A but a good time-out in the corner does make you think of what you post sometimes

What we have on the forums is favouritism. A select few are revered while punching down on us with genuine concern.

I remember on old forums, when I got into trouble twice, I got direct quotes to my posts (and I was able to see- yes, that’s about right I indeed did break a rule).

But this time I had only “due to violation of code of conduct”. I presumed that likely the thread was removed form public view. And only 2 posts I have ever done that were on level (while not violating COC AFAIK) of being very direct on delicate matters. Or perhaps me jesting about certain DH making posts every day ? Or perhaps when I made a joke in wrong place? Or perhaps my sarcasm went on wrong place. Or perhaps it was automated miss-report? Perhaps… who knows.

But regardless my point here is that - people should always interact with team, when they have questions. And that team should always let people know what they have done, so that people know how to defend themselves.

I do try to watch my tongue better, be wiser and make sure whatever I say follows the CoC, so that trolls, who do not like my opinions wouldn’t have ammunition.

Both my bans were on the new forums and I got emails with the offending posts in them. Very odd! Unless they’ve changed it since March maybe??

Look at how this is said… i can agree with everything here as you have put it. Now perhaps they will see but i still doubt it… It must be more fun to operate as poltergeist spirit lurking and watching for “wrong doing…”

Nah, 20K reads in 500 topics was always the requirement for L3.

Looking at your activity, I think you’ve got the likes. Anyway, if you want likes, writing quality content is sub-optimal. It takes forever to research and present clearly, and yields only maybe two or three likes. Much more efficient to get in early on a thread that’s obviously going to be batted around, and make a post that supports a popular point of view and doesn’t offend anyone. If it’s mildly amusing, so much the better, but it’s not essential.

You’re short on topics read and posts read. Here’s a secret - just don’t tell anyone! - you don’t actually have to read them all. There’s not a test, or anything. Just keep scrollin’.

I have worked in customer service, and I am also while sharp tongued, one of the most “liked” forum members of another gaming forums and company and I still believe that everything can be sorted with communication. Moderators and CMs are just people like you and I. They likewise can have off days, misunderstand posts and written text. There’s no monsters under the bed. No conspiracy.

I understand that while my 2 sharp tongued posts (that I can recall that may have been issue) were not breaking CoC as I understand it, then also I may have asked very direct questions that can be taken as attack in 2019. But also other aspect is that when you appeal and talk with moderators, you have to remain respectful as treating customer support with respect means they feel they should show mutual common respect to you too.

Same with GMs in-game, or clerks in local store. Interaction is key. Understanding and dialogue can make things clearer.

I don’t believe the moderators have it out for anyone or that moderation of the boards is a bad thing when done right, I’ve been on the wrong end of the van hammer and it smarts, especially when one time I was baited and one time I just made a silly joke that caused a bit of snow to fall. Common sense wouldn’t have actioned me either time and I’m sure plenty feel the same but then again at what point do the moderators let rule breaking slide before the calls of unfairness and favouritism begin?

I will just say this because they may be listening (yes i must censor my own word) but even the GM that answered my ticket about last ban was like “what? i dont believe” well not that exactly but words to this meaning… I do hope you are right though and can know what you said about favoritism…

On some forums (Bethesda for example) - baiting can net you very swift vacation. if you fall on bait, you may get verbal warning. And I agree with them in sense that purposed bait is a bigger offend that seeks to look fights while people, who fall in bait just react.

I think Blizzard is a bit … as it is also due to it being as popular as company. The amount of players Blizzard has is massive. You need solid crowd control. But moderators also should be peoples-people, who should understand forum and community dynamics. The topics, and “inside jokes”. Or like here we have now running jokes of “horde bias”, “week-end topics” and “19 surviving alliances players” - those jests have their origins, and they are at times used as code words. A moderator has to understand all those things in order for most efficient (and fair) crowd control.

So this is why I had not seen you in a while?

No, I’ve been a very good girl recently but I have been poorly so had to give WoW a bit of a break :slightly_frowning_face:
