FPS drop after patch 10.1.5

Hi, so basically after the new patch went live, my fps seems to drop randomly in random areas.

I’m playing on Macbook Pro with M2 Max and 64GB RAM, until now, everything was smooth.

Anyone else experiencing this after the new patch?

Thanks.

Can confirm, I am experiencing this as well with a R7 5800X and RTX 3050.

Also, it’s not the areas being populated, those drops happen everywhere.

Using 3060ti and my problem since is that the GPU usage is very high in Dragonflight, WoD and Legion Order Halls. Temperature also rises from 55 upto 78 Degree. in other content everything is fine.
maybe they changed something or added something new that is very GPU demanding

Same issue, logged in yesterday, 15fps instead of 50, then all of a sudden it worked while I was disabling addons.
Today its 15fps again even without any addon enabled, really weird.

Fixed it by downgrading my nvidia driver to before 535.98 !

Came here looking for this. My 3070 goes up to 99% gpu usage in absolutely random areas flying from Valdraken to Azure Span for example

Yes, exactly! I went from a smooth 144 fps to pretty frequent drops to 110 in areas where it isn’t really explainable. Drops in Thaldraszus make sense because of the Time Rift spam but drops in Zaralek don’t.

This didn’t help me personally

i am glad i am not only one with those drops

Confirmed. Everyone in my M+ team is getting random freezes which we weren’t before the patch.

After today’s update, no change for me.

Hi there, laptop with RTX3060 card, getting the same. Cant get FPS above 20 anywhere. Have recently updated to NVIDIA 536.40 driver. Disabling addons does nothing. Even on graphics setting 1, with everything low i cant get higher than 30. Please help.

I seem to have fixed it, i opened my Geforce Experience, went to driver and reinstalled the exact same driver. Logged into wow back up to 100FPS.

Sadly, I do not know of a way to reinstall drivers on macOS.

As Bóngas has pointed out, the GPU usage seems to be a bit out of place. With WoW being as CPU-intensive as it is, you don’t see 100% GPU usage that often, which is the case a lot more often now for some reason. Blizzard must’ve changed something big because these aren’t your usual patch day drops.

I also tried reinstalling Windows today, not because of this, but another problem with my PC. That didn’t help either. So at least for me, reinstalling all the drivers didn’t help and neither did reinstalling the game.
