Yep, old computer with 8GB GPU, I’ll give you that but I’m still writing this post because I don’t think what I’m seeing is expected to happen on my rig.
I often experience sudden FPS drops (~20) and stuttering, not only in the new areas but also in the old world (like, what’s so fancy in Elwynn Forest all of a sudden that a 2020 gamer laptop can’t deal with it?).
What’s weird is that it doesn’t seem to be impacted by GPU settings at all, it also happens if I lower my settings. Monitoring performance tells me that my RAM is more than sufficient, my CPU is not struggling, it’s just the GPU graph that’s super spikey (rather than consistently at high utilization). Normally I see 100-130 FPS on “7” settings even in new areas, except for these sudden throttles.
Any ideas? Has anyone experiencing the same found a solution?
Since you gave no hardware specs i’m gonna use my imagination;
Notebook’s tend to overheat and throttle especially in summertime. What are your CPU/GPU temps while playing?
CPU-Bottleneck even though the utilization overall is low on a 6/8+ core CPU.
This is because WoW is mostly using ONE mainthread for it’s calculations (combat, addons etc).
See here for confirmation:
Hey there!
Hope your well. Yeh there has been many reports of FPS issues within the game, we are currently waiting for a blue post to confirm a fix or least give some solutions.
I have read reports of people using i9 13900ks and rtx4090 and struggling and stuttering on 40 fps on low settings… But yet read reports of people using ryzen 5 and 3080 and maxing out the game on 100fps+
I think they realy need to delete the enginge they using now and make//rework a new 1…
This game doesn`t like high end PCS at all… Certenatly doesnt like my PC and many others at all…
