After the update in February, I started having technical issues in close quarters combat. Mainly in Mythic Keystone Dungeons. The Fps in game drops for a second and the game becomes unplayable. For example the FPS can drop from 150 to 30, in that drop the game freezes for a second. This continues throughout the dungeon. This doesn’t happen on another game apart from WoW. So far WoW Classic works fine.
I have googled this problem and have found no solution.
I have had the PC sent to the manufacturer.
I have wiped my PC and reinstalled everything.
Checked that all my systems are up-to-date .
I have followed all the technical advice on the Blizzard website.
I didn’t have my computer for long when this started to happen it was new this year.
- So what hardware do you have?
- If WoW is on SSD how much free space there is remaining?
- Did you tried without any addons and their files?
- Did you checked that during problems in WoW there isn’t some third party app or Windows process trying to use a lot of CPU or GPU?
I have a custom built PC with
- AMD Ryzen 7 8core processor.
- 32 GB Ram.
- I use a separate drive for games and it has plenty of space in it.
- Addons have no effect I have checked. I use curse for addons.
- This problem also occurs when only the game is running.
Which generation And what’s your GPU?
Sometimes you have to remove all addons files from wow.
There are some known GPU problems with dungeons like SoA, but that’s only selected cases. Other option would be some assets loading problem but that would be less likely to show up only in dungeons.
Can you go to old Karazan raid, pull a lot of mobs (do not kill) and see if the problems would show up?
If they do then it’s something related to combat and if not then it’s either the instance or spells used in said instance. If it does happen when all those mobs are in combat run “userbenchmark” while the game is running and post the result URL here.
It’s probably addon related if it only happens in combat.
Most people on these forums who say ‘it’s not my addons I tested them’ later turn round and say ‘yeah, it was this addon’.
If it really isn’t an addon then it could possibly be a graphical setting that is bugged on your system for some reason. Maybe set everything to default/lowest as a test.
