Hey! Yesterday I was playing World of Warcraft normally with minimum lag, then I found this guy on instagram that said “if you want to increase your fps” do this.
I changed some settings and I disabled dynamic tick, after doing that I started lagging.
So I restored my computer to an earlier point where I hadn’t even touched the dynamic tick.
But I still have low framerates.
I usually have like 59-60 fps, so basically lag free.
I usually play wow at medium settings, so 5 on the slider, now I’m lagging with the slider on the lowest settings, 1.
Usually I can play in The War Within zones without lag, now I can’t even stand outside of Elwynn Forest without lag.
Usually I can navigate the graphic settings without lag, but now every time I press a button in the graphics menu, I get a lag spike for maybe 0.5 seconds.
This was an annoying mistake, I don’t know why I felt like I needed to change the settings in my computer.
My computer is old, but back in the day it did cost 1700$.
Appreciate any help I can get, thanks.
I’m using:
GTX 1070
Intel(R) Core™ i5-8400 CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.81 GHz
8.00 GB (7.85 GB usable)
64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows 10
That is not at all how lag works.

The FPS links to Hz (frame refresh rate), so higher frames the smoother gameplay. Lag comes from ms, connection to the environment/server.
FPS drops will see a drop in frame generation, often mistaken for lag, which comes from connection.
Perhaps try to repair your WoW install from the battle.net launcher. You could also try to check if your drivers are up to date for your gfx card. Selecting 5 on th slider will also automatically enable options that you may not want to use for performance so run through each setting individually and see what can be disabled.
I hope you get it sorted.

So you followed some random advice from instagram, probably changed a bunch of command line settings that have made the game run worse.
Please don’t do stuff if you don’t understand how it works, same reason I don’t mess with my car, I have a mechanic who does that when it needs to be fixed.
System restore doesn’t touch personal files, so it won’t affect the game’s settings in any way.
Restore the game to default settings (Blizzard has an official guide on how to do this) and you’ll probably be fine.
Calling people stupid who are trying to help you seldom generates positive results.
We are not Blizzard’s customer support agents, and we don’t have to help you at all.
Please be politer when seeking advice as you’ll find you might not get the answers you want.

Stop acting like a toddler, Aethillien is right.
What you were experiencing is called frame drops which usually happens for specific reasons which i am not going into, you can look that up yourself.
Lag of lagging for that matters refers to unstable connection(s) from either side, yours or the provider of the service you’re connecting to.
It’s just pathetic the way you responded to someone who pointed out that what you’re experiencing is not called lag or lagging
Also your computer is an ancient brick by todays standards, either time to upgrade or lower the settings to 3.
If you don’t understand what you’re doing in the first place when tinkering with settings then why did you?
Seems you weren’t too smart yourself without backing up your old working settings first now did you?
In the worst case reset all your visual settings by removing the corresponding settings file and start fresh if you find it too dificult to actually know what you’re doing.
And if you think i was being an a-hole to you right now, then you’re right, i despise ‘people’ like you.
Ahhh look in another thread i found this gem:
That’s the kind of person we’re dealing with, this thing here has never heard of any kind of normal response let alone empathy, the worst kind of thing you can encounter in any online interaction.

I hope the OP follows my advice and at least reads the Blizzard article I linked, but I do wonder why people tinker with things they don’t understand and then complain that they are lost.
Best tip, format your drive, reinstall everything and don’t follow stupid guides on the Internet.
Hopefully the lesson has been learned from that then

Exactly this, or at least have the common sense to backup their settings, one way or another.
The OP changed forum char to start their villain arc.

Why are you stalking other men online? Creep.
And toddler? Being angry is not immature, it’s a natural human trait, anyone with an IQ above room temperature would understand that.
Though, it’s often the immature ones with less understanding that bring up that subject so I understand ur comment.
Being unable to control ones anger is however regarded immature (amongst other potential reasons). Not every lashing out in anger is justified.

that should be some lesson for u as to not trust these increase fps videos .at best you can try to reset your pc .do a fresh install and download of wow
I mean there is a guy on youtube who was linked left and right about FPS issues this patch and his stuff worked for most. So some of them know what they are doing. But using Instagram as a source is… I dunno.
But if you change stuff either make a backup for the game and/or remember how to revert everything to how it was. And don’t chang everything at once but step by step and view results.
Tried everything including this, took me half a week and eventually it got fixed, appreciate it, thanks!
